  • (continued from the comment below) ....the Maestro single was played ALOT in Sydney and Melbourne as was "Model Girl" because HMV was pushing them after they had a small hit with "The Warning Voice" in Sydney. After almost EVERY top 40 playing on the local radio (2UE, 2SM etc) around mid '61 I remember they'd go "Be sure to go out and buy this next song, released on HMV, it's available at most record halls. Johnny Maestro who gave us several other tasty songs gives us Mr Happiness"

  • Eydie's "Happiness" was quite a sizeable hit in Australia, released on the W&G label, she had a number 1 hit a few years earlier with You Need Hands, a top 5 hit with "Quando Quando Quando" in 1957, her cover of Monroes "I Wanna Be Loved By You" also reached number #4 in 1958 and then "Happiness" peaked at #8 in 1959. The Clyde McPhatter single didn't chart here but was released, and I remember it being played on the raqdio in Sydney in early '62. I Love Happy Good Times :) The Maestro single...

  • Some kind of good taste in Australia.

The Diamonds also had some releases only in Australia like Where Mary Go, which I'd like to hear.

  • i'm sooooo glad.......

    thx for post

  • Never heard this one. Looked on your favorites and found it. thanks for this one; must have been on a single not on any lp or compilation.....A real true Eydie fan; the rest of the music is just fine!!!! Thanks for the post.

  • It's unbelievable Eydie's song was not a big hit.. many gems are overlooked!

It improves any mood 200 per cent any time!

  • Always enjoyed Eydie Gorme & her husband, Steve Lawrence; saw them in concert about 20 years ago. Clyde McPhatter--always good. My favorite--Johnny Maestro. "Mr. Happiness" reached #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961. A solo record, Maestro was billed as Johnny Maestro and The Coeds, but the backup singers were actually The Crests. Over 50 years singing, and Johnny is better than ever.
