I've been thinking of booking a track day, but the instructors do not seem to be very willing to let you put the hammer down... I thought they let you go a bit wild...do they? I am quite experienced with racing car driving, and I would be slightly annoyed if I have someone telling me to change up when it is obviously still early. If I pay the extra 25 quid for insurance, will they let me give it the beans?
I was looking into doing this with my dad, but after looking at YT vids there is no way I would pay that amount (for a full day) and being told to up shift once the car starts to accelerate like a 500 HP N/A car should. The high HP is not available before the last 1000 RPM of the rev range.
We did a track day here locally where we drove by our selfs. Fully rigged BMW 3-series. It was a blast.
These cars can be rented in the UK and US for around 1000 USD a day. Much more fun!
dude, when its the schools 200 thousand dollar car, and its not urs, the instructor has every right to command u on what to do. And i guarantee they would kill you if you hurt the car
I drove a Gallardo there yesterday. Brilliant experience! The circuit has changed slightly now - the complex by the pits is no longer used
My instructor took a slightly different approach. I used 4th gear everywhere except the back straight where I got up to 5th (110mph before braking), so I did feel as though I was using the full rev range.
Those of you who think the instructor should 'shut up' have no idea...they are there to help you get the best out of yourself and the car.
@wolfyys Well, you have to look at it from the "instructor's" point of view; car that's worth more than your house, other people on the track, and probably the first time the guy has driven anything that powerful/fast. I know I wouldn't want to crash that thing.
@viperboost931 Worth more than my house?, lol, I couldnt even buy a lacklustre house for how much that Gallardos worth, heck, its barely worth more than a brand new BMW M3.
I dont know what your on about.
Ensuring you dont crash is one thing, being a down right idiot who moans at whos driving is quite another
Not picking holes or anything and quality video by the way but the instructor does'nt know much about the car. First of all it's pronounced Ga-yar-doh not Ga-lardo. Secondly it's 513bhp not 500. Thirdly, yes the engine is in the back but technically it's in the middle. :-)
All of you people saying that the instructor should shut up, havent got a clue. Driving experience companies like this are under constant rule for Noise restrictions, as a result the cars have to be short-shifted. Plus the fact this is probably the first time people get to drive cars like this.

quality, went around in a porche 911 turbo, absolutely amazing. My dad had a go in a ferrari and then went in the lamborghini, said it was the thrill of his life
I wish the guy woud just shut up. Its about having fun who cares if you are doing it right or not. You should be able to do what you want. Sounds wike the guy just doesnt want him to rev it high.
your just dumb, you have to listen to these guys, they know what the car can do at what speed on which bend.. dont listen to them and you will end up crashing in no time
Nice. I'm doing this same experience tomorrow afternoon, so this is very handy. There do seem to be quite a few points in the corners where you're just coasting, though - is that fair comment? It looks like you've got little choice about it, given the constant instruction.

I sure wouldnt pay £150 to be moaned at for 10 mins. Its like being with a driving instructor again, boring, unenjoyable.
And in some cases, even the smallest thing they'll moan about.
Right down to your road positioning, like in this vid.
All he should have done is ensured they werent endangering anyone.
He wasnt there to learn how to race, he was there to drive the bloody car!, that guy didnt let the driver think for him self at all.
how can you enjoy that?

lol, your driving a car that is $200,000. I think it would be fun, and plus, its not ur car, so they boss u around all you want
