I'm American... of Trinidadian decent. I learned to dance to reggae and dancehall from Jamaican people... we were all dating and hanging with each other. Real caribbean unity. There are people here who are teaching dancehall just because they like the music... but it's not real if they're not learning or at least creating their dances from the originators. some of them don't even know who shabba or maxi priest or Spraga is. Yup. Reggae and rap came from dance hall in Jamaica. The b side of the records they had were the instrumental versions of the sons. So the people would make their own songs over the music. That whole 'scene' in the states was imported from Jamaica.
