@shinedown5555 Schools often use a proxy. You need to go to network settings in Tor, then choose "I use a Proxy to connect to the Internet"

Then type in your district's proxy address, port, and your basic student username and password.

@shinedown5555 That depends. In our district whenever the web browser is first opened, it asks for a username and password, to tell if it should use the filter for staff or students.

That popup usually is along the lines of

"The proxy server at proxy.schooldistrictwebsiteurl­:3128 is asking for a username and password"

If something like that pops up for you, the "proxy.whateverisrighthere" is the proxy address, and the number after the ":" is the port number.

Well if you never see the proxy address, I can just give you a general idea of what it might be.

For us it is

proxy.[school district website url]

So go to google and search "(Your City) school district"

that website's address, but put "proxy." in front.

For the port, try 3128. It might be the same.

If not, I can't help too much with that.

FYI, Tor isn't secure at all. Just compromise an end router and since the end router does the last decryption on your packets, all confidentiality goes out the window. In another words, if someone likes, they can snoop anything you send over

@MTRandom I SSH Tunnel to a remote server I have, then run tor from there and have Proxifier send all traffic from the ssh tunnel through Tor. Only for really secure stuff though.

I've used Tor. It works great, just makes all the webpages load insanely slow. I don't think this works on macs either.
