  • okay what is the intro to the song at the beginning of the video

  • 1:30 - 1973 Electar stands for 'SOUND' Amazing, they should start building these guitars again!!

  • NOT the first electric guitar. That is a false claim. Rickenbacher had the first electric guitar.

  • @vantagestudios In 1931 the "frying pan" guitar was introduced by George Beauchamp and produced by Rickenbacker Electro, and it was actually the first electric lap steel, not a true guitar. The 1937 Electar Model M was the first to be designed and manufactured as a true guitar, by definition. So, you are partially right, partially wrong. Hope this helps.

  • Phil should do another review of this guitar but obviously a longer review. I wanna hear more from the guitar.

  • Holy shit that sounds surprisingly good!

  • 1:30 , Shit just got real

  • 1:30 Fuck boring stuff...lets play some Zeppelin babe!!

  • you have to do, which i can't xd lol

  • alice cooper could have used this...i wanna be electard..;-)

  • Every time I think that I know what the first electric guitar invented was, I always seem to be wrong

  • Its a pity Epiphone no longer make their own guitars because that one is pretty dam good. Now they just make Gibson copies? Please let me know if im wrong!

  • @Mflyingspacemonkey epiphone works for gibson now if i am not wrong

  • @Mflyingspacemonkey Gibson owns Epiphone. Gibson owns plenty of guitar companies; like Baldwin, Epiphone, Kalamazoo,Kramer, Maestro, Slingerland, Steinberger, Tobias,Valley Arts and Wurlitzer. One of Epiphone's purposes is to provide Gibson looks and decent sounds at an affordable price. They do still make their own signature guitars. One of my favorites is the Epiphone Wildkat. Go check out their website for more info. Hope this helps.

  • What's the price tag on that guitar?

  • ahhhhhahahahaha 1930,s led zeppelin shame the players in the 30,s never had the fuzz pedal rock music would have sounded very different today if they had lol

  • that thing sounds amazing. very surprising they got it so right the first time

  • ELEKTAR!!!!

  • sounds amazing

  • This just took awesome to a whole new level!! O.o

  • Holy shit. Bring It On Home..... on THAT guitar ??? DUDE. That was badass.

  • It should sound strat-ish. Apart from the magnet the pickups are basically almost the same.

  • electar....

    ELECTAR!!!!!

  • better caracteristique than current les pauls , maybe more different -everyone has a les paul you know. and also the clean tone is suprisingly perfect.

  • 37 ???? HOLY SHIT

  • we want eruption on it!

  • 1:39 Bring it on home - Led Zeppelin

  • the first electric guitar was the frying pan

  • reading off the script much?!

  • @jxemc you're an idiot. its not a script im pretty sure when you're spending the kind of money that people pay for these guitars you want to make sure you know everything about the guitar

  • How much is it??

  • the frying pan was made in 1931

  • "we have this crazy here"

  • I just love when he look at it about 1:19 and just goes crazy whit bring it on home ;)

  • Interesting history on the first electric guitar. We all know the first solid body electric guitar are the Leo Fender's broadcaster and Mr. Les Paul's electric guitar. Peace, Flood!

  • @evelasq1 no broadcaster was the first mass production solid body but bigsby luthier and Rickenbacker did solidbody in the early 40's before the tele's prototypein 49 .Happyto perfect your education

  • Yes, it's a great riff. It's from Led Zeppelin's 'Bring it on Home'. The song starts as a slow blues, then Jimmy Page explodes into that riff at 1:44. If you like Old School blues-rock riffs check out our version of Money for Nothing at loosecovers.blogspot.com

  • his shirt says PINK TACO

  • Beautifull time machine..♪♫ ƒ.

  • that riff at the end sounded AWESOME. jesus christ, its like i will never find that kind of roar. it just grabs you by the boo boo doesnt it?

  • whats the song in 1:32???? pls reply if its not a song can you pls pls pls send me the tabs?

  • @antonis0035tc Yes, it's a great riff. It's from Led Zeppelin's 'Bring it on home'. The song starts as a slow blues, then explodes into that riff at 1:44. If you like Old School blues-rock riffs check out our version of Dire Straits - Money for Nothing at loosecovers.blogspot.com

  • @antonis0035tc led zeppelin-bring it on home

  • @antonis0035tc It's a Led Zeppelin song, but I can't remember the name.... sorry

  • i thought the frying pan was the first electric guitar

  • Wow, almost 80 years of innovation, and the first guitar sounds like 90% of the guitars we make today.

  • wow, we finally got something right the first time

  • holy fuck, that is from 37 and it has a badass metal sound. haha cool

  • @krazy4knives It's more in the amp to be honest... lol

  • rickenbacker frying pan, anyone?

  • I'd SO love that.

  • Sounds amazing

  • Sounds amazing :D

  • @amosschorr93 I think its because of the pickup, horse-shoe mounts usually dont make much feedback on acoustic-electric instruments, he might also have used a noise gate. Cheers!

  • wasnt rickenbacker frying pan the first electric guitar?

  • @guitarkidshredman yup. these people dont know what they're talking about.

  • 2,500? i thought maybe 175,000

  • I admit, I'm an Electard! ;D

  • 1:30 - Geez, I think I just jizzed my pants! O.O''

  • @DimmyAraujo Bring it on home-Led Zeppelin

  • @DimmyAraujo I know what you mean. I never thought that look and that sound could coexist in one guitar.

  • @DimmyAraujo Hey what song is that

  • I love 1930's music. Today I have in front of me on my work bench one of two identical amplifier chassis that I just pulled from my 1946 Wurlitzer model 310 'Vibrato' tone cabinet. It was Wurli's answer to Donald Leslie's 'Leslie'. Go to the organ Forum and look at this post:

One of the first Leslie's (?)- 30A didn't sell for $500 today! Ouch

This is one of Don's very first Leslie cabinets.

My 310 cab came w/ my 46' Wurlitzer Orgatron. It was an electrostatic reed organ. Look up Wurlitzer 4600.

  • yeah this isnt the first electric guitar, the first was the rickenbacker frying pan.

  • I am convinced 100% that this is one of the best guitars ever made...all guitars should have that type quality,....damn...only 2500...If I had only known.

  • i was like shit wasnt expecting that when you played zepplin

  • lmao pulls some zeppelin out of a fossil of a great guitar, genius XD

  • @kevinreedmusic

    bring it on hooooome

  • Sorry but this is not the first or even close to the first electric guitar. Here are a few: The Stromberg Electro, 1928, the prototype electro (Rickenbacker) that is in the museum in Wichita, Kansas. I was built to not have acoustic resonance and act like a solid body, in about August of 1932. How about Lloyd's Loar ViVi-Tone stuff, 1932. Oh and we need to remember the Dobro All Electric 1933. Vega 1935, Regal 1935, list is long. , the list goes on, Please get your facts RIGHT..

  • god, I would love a guitar like this.

  • no, ES-150 was the first

  • wasn't the first electric guitar "The log"?

  • wasn't the first electric guitar "The log"

  • alright, don't hate me but what's the song at 1:32? I'm having the biggest brain fart right now, I'm pretty sure it's a Zep song

  • @kevinreedmusic

    yes it's led zeppelin

    song :bring it on home

  • @kevinreedmusic

    yes it's led zeppelin

    song :bring it on home

  • @kevinreedmusic bring it on home

  • for the first electric guitar, sounds pretty damm good !!

  • zeppelin works on EVERYTHING

  • Amazing sustain!! <3 I want one. haha

  • Oh just bring it on home!

  • Electar... ELECTAR!!!

  • 1:03 I think he was HONESTLY suprised at that! Just like everyone else!

  • Phil is so funny....... ;-)

  • Amazing guitar and tone!

  • That guitar looks like it could play itself, damn i want to try one!!

  • See, instead of an Evil Robot amp, you guys should come up with something new. A new model of guitar, made entirely to the specifications of Phil X. It could be the new Les Paul or Strat, and you'd be sure to have many fans.

  • Do you have anymore or have any idea if i can find one some were?

  • Beautifulllllll

  • man that sounds so good, I can't believe that they got it right the time!

  • man that sounds spanky and delicious

  • Near the end of the video, do you remember if you were using a Bad Monkey? Or was that all natural overdrive?

  • this isnt the first guitar? the first guitar was made by rickenbacker

  • what strings do the guitars have?

  • Is it the "Frying Pan" was the first electric guitar that was made in 1931?

  • 1:45 electar!!!

  • Wow...that was a true privilege. The guitar looks like it's in amazing condition for something that's 74 years old (that's mind blowing)...that's more than twice my age. It must be worth a fortune. Thanks for the journey Phil.

  • @hotandspicy666

Sold for 2500 dollars... Surprised me too.

  • Play some White Stripes.

  • Hahahaha Bring It On Home Phil!!! Woo!

  • Rockin the Zepp on a 74 year old guitar....amazing!

  • haha i love the way he realises the logic of "electar" at the end...quote: "an electar...electar...ELECTAR! :D" xD

  • thats some good tone

  • i thought the first electric guitar was the rickenbacker frying pan?

or was this considered the first electric guitar. as in a guitar. not a lap steel. which is still a guitar right?

imdoing a project on the history of electric guitars. i need to know this...

  • so is this an early rip off? This thing is SO similar to the 1930's Electro Spanish by Rickenbacker it's not even funny. (from the Ultimate Guitar book by Tony Bacon P.54. 1991)

Reguardless, it sounds INCREDIBLE and i am super jealous of the person who got to buy it :)

  • lol, he is just reading the text in the beginning :P

  • thats one beautiful sounding guitar

  • throw on some emgs and plug it into a nice marshall

  • kay tear drop guitar sounds like that too

  • whats that song he was playing ??

  • @hazthefool Led Zeppelin Bring It on home

  • @gsxr08061991 that my friend is the greatest rock and roll band in the world, led zeppelin with their song bring it on home!

  • @eatmydustco i knew it!!!!i knew it!!!!!!it sounded like Led Zeppelin.i just couldn t remember the song.thank you * 1000000.and yes they are the Gods Of Rock!!!!!

  • That was Bo Burnham at the opening.

  • Sounds like an acoustic Tele.

  • sound crazy !!!

  • are there reprints of such instruments produced?

  • Haha nice fail, :P, reading the telepromter there, or whatever, at least it looks like your reading something :P

  • Hmmm... maybe the first electric guitar for Epiphone/Electar. History shows that the first electric guitar was invented and produced by Rickenbacher

  • @vantagestudios and maybe late 20's or early 30's

  • That's seriously the best bang for buck! AWESOME TONE!!!

  • Cool guy..fun playing...you'd think it would be a ajzz box,... but not where that pickup is. Rolling off, the real question is...how does the volume decrease when you roll off the top end...if this guitar had a pickup put where it is because sit could cut through with a big band...then it makes a lotta sense. Just wonder how much volume is lost when the tone is cut back.

  • look im wondering why do rickenbackers go for so much i need one for cheap

  • @MartyMcfly4890 Indie makes some rickenbacker copies that are around 500 bucks i think. and they are really nice :)

  • why the Internet killed television intro?

  • just imagine how much this is!

  • sold?

  • @gruhonjic yes, sold - it was listed at $2,500

  • @frettedamericana i thought it costs a lot more :o

  • @frettedamericana

That's it?? I would've expected around 10 grand or higher. Thats amazing

  • @frettedamericana what was the name of that song you were playing with the distortion at 1:32 im pretty sure its by led zeppelin plz respond its killing me

  • @dudehappystar Bring it on Home!

  • @frettedamericana too cheap

  • @frettedamericana for one of the first electric guitars out there, that's cheap. Well cheaper than most guitars I've seen that are not as old.

  • @frettedamericana It's should have gone for more than $2,500. My opinion.

  • @frettedamericana Thats it??? :P couldn't you of got alot more for it?

  • @frettedamericana how could it only go for 2500 if it was the first electric guitar?

  • @frettedamericana to cheap!

  • @frettedamericana nice . . . i`ll go kill my shelf now . . .

  • @frettedamericana too cheap for that guitar :(

  • @frettedamericana Thats it???

  • electar, ELECTAR!! xD

  • thats like demoing a B.C. Rich by playing jazz and folk. what a nobbit.

  • nice when he busts out with the Jimmy page!

  • DAMN IT'S LIKE BELLS

  • I really wish that you wouldn't demo EVERY guitar like a hard rock - heavy metal guitar... For a hard rocker its a nice demo otherwise it totally misses the point.

  • @bloodyfrets

Damn its good to be a hard rocker these days !

  • damn dude how long have u been playing?

  • That guitar sounds like a dream

  • That guitar amazing!

  • how much is the so called electar

  • PINK TACO!

  • that sounds absolutely amazing.

  • Electar... ELECTAR!

  • Electar. ELECTAR!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the look on his face when he said electar.. should 'ave said eureka instead! hahaaaha
