Guys, it ain't the band's fault that the license for the song couldn't be renewed for Hitman: Contracts - blame the publishers. Also - if they really wanted to re-issue Contracts, they could probably find an easier route by removing the track from the game (although that'd still present other legal issues, no doubt...).

They don't have the rights to the song, you moron, WMG does, and as you can tell by the past years of sueage majors are dying and getting greedy as fuck with what they own. Looking at the steam sale today and being a big fan of the hitman series (having owned the first 2 on pc previously & contracts, blood money on ps2) i was interested in buying the hitman collection, sadly when i found contracts wasn't included i was confused, i read a few forums and found out that this band being selfish and not allowing a renewed license of use for their song in the game, what gives?! if you make a song widely available free on a game it should be for publicity not revenue.

@clipsryan Clutch won't renew the license for the song to IO Interactive, and it's part of the soundtrack to their game "Hitman: Contracts."

IO is willing to pay to renew, but for some reason Clutch or their manger(s) and lawyer(s) are unwilling to. And rather than just replacing the song, IO doesn't want to alter or taint the original like George Lucas would and just stopped selling the game.

@clipsryan I'm not sure, but there could be another factor. It can also be a breach of contract that they may have made with another digital distributor. Some artists exclusively have online services like iTunes or Zune sell their songs, and having the game rereleased through Steam could be a violation of that, because the song would be inside the files.

Well it certainly didn't ruin Hitman Contracts for me, I enjoyed the soundtrack very much actually, it gave the game a darker and grittier feel, which is what Hitman is supposed to be all about.

Cudo's for your interest in Clutch, but to say its an act no one else has heard of...Please. I've been listening to them since '93 (not that I had the same respect for them with just one album), and have met hundreds of fans along the way. Hell, Bam Margerra even had them play live on his TV show. Right on though, man. Always good to know people still have some taste in this bullshit world of Fergie and Akon. I hear ya that its nice that they've stayed under the radar for this long...
