@ThunderAppeal That's why the thugs insist on making m.j. and videotaping illegal - they know these things will help to break the corrupt "system. Look at what the Senate did today.
While it's perplexing to me, too, why cameras aren't allowed in the courtrooms, I expect it might have something to do with the media cameras causing lawyers, judges and defendants to grandstand and act like idiots - as in the OJ Trial.
Dave must have been sorely disappointed when he was released within MINUTES (again). The big, bad, evil court system seems to have no interest in persecuting Dave Ridley.
welcome to the Ridley Report PR man! I think we've crossed paths at the NH insider forums....always good to see some opposition joining in the discussion here.
Thank you, Dave. You've always been rather decent in person to me and that's appreciated. I do think your style as a documentary filmmaker is quite good, and have always said so. That you're using your skills to promote a dismantling of society, its long-held values and its entire legal system, well, that I'm not so thrilled about.
Still, we can find some common ground in that I do believe some accommodation for cameras' usage in courtrooms could easily be found.
wow. to think there are people who don't want there to be a public record of a public hearing being run by public officials, funded by tax dollars. That's a new one for me. How else do you hold these criminals accountable if they can keep their system hidden?
Why would you want to tie up the resources of the New Hampshire citizens? I would think you'd want to influence people to want to become libertarians but if that's what you believe I want no part of it. Before I became aware of the Ridley Report I actually thought of becoming a libertarian but I will definitely stay away from it now and I will let my friends all know my opinion on this as well.
Someone should arrest those police, this is how the nazi started, are we free or what? we are not. I heard the madam speaker in NH in a comittee say cameras are allowed this is a free country well what about this, this is not a free country, we are being enslaved!

Yeah, seriously. And, did you check out that Rosa Parks woman? What's her problem with following the rules. That Ghandi character was bad news too, as was MLK ... what, these people think they can accomplish something just by pretending the laws don't apply to them?
ill give u that the three ppl u talked bout had something to fight for something that would change the world do u honestly think making it legal to video tape a judgewill make a dent? is there not better things that need to be worked on first... cause i mean i no everybody around me is just dieing to video tape some old fart w a robe and lil wooden hammer... hahahahhahahha i still say yall have no life
That's not the point here, what they're trying to do is get people to see how many rights we're losing in the land of the free. Video taping your own court session can be vital to your safety. If you have evidence of what happened, it could help fight mistreatment or bad judgement on Mr. Honor's part.
Exactly, because the rules/laws are stupid. Why should I obey laws or rules that I don't agree with?
You SHOULD be able to film, audiotape, and take pictures of public officials at any time, with or without their consent, in any public place. Our tax dollars go to pay for their shit, so it's only fair.
"Why should I obey laws or rules that I don't agree with?"
RIGHT ON. I don't want to pay taxes, I want to drive as fast as I like after chugging a bottle of whisky and I want to shoot my annoying wife in the head.
Why should I have to obey stupid rules that try to tell me i can't? It worked for Gandhi
I guess you misunderstood me. I was talking about -bad- laws/rules that limit a person's freedom when they haven't harmed anyone. I'm talking about victimless crime laws.
If a law meets my moral objective standards (such as not murdering, not stealing, not enslaving someone), then I have no problem with any of these beings 'laws' because I follow them anyway. However, stuff like cannabis laws and prostitution laws need to be broken.
And what the hell is a "victimless crime"? If your child was hit by a car and died because the driver was doing 40mph instead of 30mph you wouldn't consider speeding victimless would you?
I'd also like to be there when you tell a Judge that your rationale for breaking the law is that that particular law didn't meet your moral objective standards. Hopefully you'll be allowed to record it for us all to see.
In general I like this video. However, that statement in reference to drugs is wrong. Unless you grow your own, someone somewhere was injured or killed to get you your high.
In 2005, more than 1000 landmines killed or maimed men, women and children in Colombia because of the drug trade. Soon the US will fall, and the landmines will be in your front yard.
"Unless you grow your own, someone somewhere was injured or killed to get you your high."
What about California, where growing marijuana is legal and is grown on farms and shipped to marijuana medical dispensaries? No one's gettng injured or killed to "get their high" there. That's bullshit.
Personally, I want all drugs to be legalized. As Ron Paul says, addiction is a disease just like alcoholism, and the "drug war" will never be won this way.
But I tell you this, if those cartels warring in Tijuana feel their business threatened by the home growers, the home growers will soon find their land filled with mines. Then there will be plenty of victims.
My home town, Phoenix, is already the #2 kidnapping capital of the world.
Yes, Phoenix is getting that bad. I personally helped an escaped "illigal alien" evade being re-captured by his abductors recently. He told me how some 50-plus people were being held in the house he escaped from. And there were plenty of drug-runners involved. Some families of victims had even paid the ransom, only to be extorted for more.
The war is here, yet Obama is sending troops to Afghanistan instead of protecting our borders. Why? To control poppy trade?
Robert you know that's ridiculous and you have absolutely no proof or way of backing it up, just your own deluded thinking that leads you to such a conclusion.
Since you have absoutely no clue how the marijuana trade works I think you should refrain from making such ignorant comments and realize that if marijuanas legal cartels, dealers and other criminls would have no market with which they can make money off of. All the government has done is create a black market for criminals to profit.
You don't know me, so don't go saying what I do or don't know. My videos should clue you in as to what I've seen in person. Have you ever even stepped foot outside of North America? I've personally seen the results of a freshly detonated car bomb. And it wasn't in the middle east, and I wasn't on a mission of any government. I was simply on a personal vacation. If you've got proof you've been outside the "save haven" of the western world, then post it. Otherwise, you've got nothing to say.
Heh, you're just going wayyyy off course here. Go post where your argument has some relevance and save the comments for people who want to discuss the video at hand.
This video was in regards to taking a camera "to record the arraignment of a Gandhi-emulating marijuana activist." So there are 2 subjects here: Camera in court, and legalising marijuana. I'd say discussing 50% of the subject at hand has plenty of revelancy. "No victim, No crime?" Then as long as I don't kill or injure anyone, I should be able to drive 110mph in a school zone and not be arrested for criminal speeding. Laws against drugs are wrong, but as long as they are laws, they're "law".
Even the United States Supreme Court has said that if a law violates the Constitution, IT IS NOT A LAW, and that disobeying the law is not only the right, but the DUTY of any patriotic American.
Let's rally. Let me know what's up, I'm in Boston and now covering this on my blog. I got a network here too. Love the video and civil disobedience thank you!
You all should try to rally the citizens their and put somone in local office who will work for you. It would be tough, but it's possible. Get that stinking judge removed.
What is posted law or stature and reason cameras are not allowed?
A silent, unobtrusive camera, with no visible lights, sitting on a desk should be considered an allowable device to maintain an accurate record of proceedings. It's far more accurate than a court recorder OR anyone wielding a pen and paper.
Are accurate records not desired by the court?
If they say they already have a camera then great, there's a backup and another angle covered. I don't see that as anything but good.
I think they call that a "legal" ha ha "confiscation" ha ha. But you're, right, it sounds more like an unlawful seizure of private property -- otherwise known as "stealing". What are they going to do, use the camera as evidence of "disorderly conduct" (which is the most all encompasing and asinine of charges ever created)?
Courthouse is public property. 1st Amendment should hold here.

So, the purpose of this video is ridiculous, and stupid.

In private arbitration, you may have a right to privacy. If you're being prosecuted by the state, you have so such right.
We want cameras in that courtroom to protect normal people like you who may be harassed by the government over victimless crimes.

That is what we hire lawyers for.
Although, I am a full fledged patriot, probably and proudly on the RED LIST, I would not want to have video in my courtroom.

Does a "permit" , needed to peaceably assemble, or the lack of a "permit" which prohibits you to peaceably assemble violate the 1st Ammendment..?
Is speaking at this peaceable assembly without a permit against the law..? again, I look to the 1st Ammendment..

Once justice Antonin Scalia received an award for "supporting free speech" from the City Club of Cleveland.
However one of the conditions of his appearance was that there could be no audio or video recordings of the proceedings.
His security detail once forced reporters to erase tape recordings of one of his speeches.
He has been a long time advocate of banning cameras from supreme court proceedings as well.
The precedent for Burke's ban comes all the way from the top.
