  • beautiful.

  • Great Hollands Golden Age, the first modern nation, the blueprint for all other Western nations, William III of the House of Orange-Nassau created the British Empire and the English don't like, NO hate that historical fact.

The Greeks and the Romans created their own empires, so did the Spaniards and the Dutch, but the defeated English needed the Dutch to form the British Empire.

You don't believe this fact?? Did you ever saw a English warmovie about the 17th century??

    Hollandia Gloria

  • Some kind of inner-glow !

  • ah Rembrandt ..my favorite painter ever..brings me to tears.....................wonderful

  • Ooo the music is so sweet it goes absolutely perfect with the self-portraits please tell me the name of the music ?

  • @MariyanBG Composed by Henny Vrienten, Dutch popvet but als composer of filmmusic, musicals etc

  • zeer aardig!

    paul.

  • heel mooi,twee favoriten, bedankt!

  • amazing paintings, wonderfully done in the video

  • I love this film, and the music. But I don't read Dutch so I'm not sure I understood, is Henny Vrienten the author of this marvelous melody?

  • "An autobiography without words" ... no other artist recorded his own image so superbly as Rembrandt.

  • budd: Well, what about Van Gogh?

  • It's like comparing Beethoven and Chopin, both were superb. When it comes to self portraits, though, Rembrandt's were sublime - without equal!

  • budd: Oh I agree, they are VERY good. It seems that Rembrandt was going for a literal representation and Van Gogh was more trying to create mood and emotion rather than a literal representation.

    I don't know, that's just my opinion.

  • In my view, Van Gogh's finest creations were his landscapes (lark in the wheatfield, starry night, cypresses at Arles, crows in the cornfield) whereas Rembrandt's majesty is in his portraits (the night watch, the Jewish bride, the anatomy lesson of Dr. Tulp) ... both were masters and geniuses and giants among men ...

  • budd: Yes, I'm just saying that Van Gogh's self-portraits are just as interesting to look at as well. Esp. because each one is extremely different from the rest. Even the colors change.

  • That's so awesome how he did self-portraits of himself as he aged.

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • Very clever.

  • well done
