@ghostashes in general, refresh RB after the DoT has ticked off.

The exception is when you want to refresh the DoT when you are going to die and you want to prevent a cap.

You're level 20 and its like you cant die. I'm level 45 and pretty much just skilled all the way up the shieldtech skilltree and i still get fucked up...

@nicitaliano just so you know, the tank tree for PT/VG does provide additional Shield Chance and Shield Absorption benefits, but those only matter against weapon damage attacks.

SC does not work against Kinetic or Elemental attacks. I suspect it doesn't work against Energy or Internal attacks wither.

@nicitaliano It's not because of his armor or anything like that. When you are level 20 in a pvp zone, it boosts your defense chance to like 15%, and gives you around 47% damage reduction to compensate for you not having more heals and better armor. When you are level 45 like I am, every level you gain you actually lose damage reduction. at lv 30 with 2500 armor its the same as a level 50 with 4000 armor

You make a big deal out of strafing but doesn't everyone know how to do that? Been playing FPS games since the mid 90s and I swear they have strafing with games like Quake and Half-Life. Surely people have gotten used to it by now...

My downfall is the key binding, I've been playing is key bindings cause I just couldn't get used to having to bind all the keys and remember them. So I gave up after 5 mins of trying and got a Razer with 12 buttons on it and it has done wonders for my game. Only downfall is having to hold the right mouse key for the camera. Was wondering if you can toggle the mouse in and out of cursor mode like in SWG Pre CU?

@slannmage the way I do my keybindings is at lvl 1 i start to bind my skills the second I get them, by the time the pvp comes iv got all my binds memorized.

The animations are different, but not in any way that matters.

@taugrimtaugrim Got the level 40 pvp gear, with updated plating, mods and enhancements. Think it's the stat difference tho, you probably had power or more aim and when it bolstered it get way higher then mine (got a balanced mix of offence and defense).

@SchnaKe Use the mouse by pressing both the right and left button simultaneously. Then simply turn it in order to go that direction. The he's using the strafe buttons in unison with his mouse movement. It's a very comfortable playing style. but straffing takes practice.

@taugrimtaugrim "best pvp"? Seriously? I don't know of a single MMO that can even fall close in that category. Good PvP is all about balance. Starcraft was king for more than a decade and that's the prime example of "best pvp". RPG's wise, that title belongs hands down to Guild Wars.

In fact, any gear based PvP isn't even in the contest for "best pvp". MMO's, by the current definition, have at least 2/3 of their skills/talents setup for PvE. Players only need this amounts of HP because of PvE.

PT = can Guard, in-your-face pressure, can Grapple

Sniper = turret-based RDPS with high burst

Both can put up high damage totals, the playstyle is just very different

I had high hopes for that ability when I played my Sentinel spec'd into Force tree in Beta but I was really disappointed :(

about how many FPS are you getting TauG, and what settings are you using? i get crazy frame rate drops not sure if it is affecting my pvp. It drops to about 20fps for some reason, I have a core 17 920 12gb of ram and a GTX 570

He is using crafted and pvp gear. At level 20 you get a shiny new set of pvp armor.

Keep in mind though that there really isn't much difference between vendor-bought PVP gear and PVE gear until you hit 50, at which point the PVP gear sets have the PVP stat (Expertise).

Could not agree more. I am one of those guys those guys that would go 2:1 or 3:1 on any fps for xbox. When I came to PC games I've still been top 5 in most games I play. I used some of Ed's tips and just started demolishing competition. Great guides Taugrim, looking forward to a healer guide for SWTOR. I'm topping the charts so epeen intact but it seems clunky without the mouseovers and the F keys are horribly configured to party members I find (besides F1 of course)

Have you guys noticed in PvP, that Sage/Sorc, BH/TR and Sniper/Gunslinger always seem to get the highest damage in Warzones?

@MicksterZone melee is just harder to play well and they also need a pockethealer in most fights because they get focused down quickly

and atm you barely get any good heals in warzones because of the operation frame bug

1. the 6 AC archetypes other than Jedi Knight / Sith Warrior have RDPS and get their CCs at low levels (e.g. in the early teens), whereas JK / SW don't get a stun until level 24. It's not symmetrical

2. Huttball favors RDPS because of the design of the map

As an experienced Assassin I often achieve highest damage whilst playing the objective, but I agree, Huttball is heaven for any RDPS, particularly the Bounty Hunter (that pesky Death From Above..) and for the most part they appear near the top of the 'damage done'.

Bounty Hunter looks really crap.

I miss SWG Pre NGE where Bounty Hunters would be scary for Jedi because they'd take out a mission to kill them, if they died they lost a whole load of XP, originally it was permadeath for Jedi.

SWTOR just seems like another over easy MMO dumbed down for the masses.

What I meant is SWTOR offers no challenge in the PVE at all, you can solo 90% of it and solo a lot of group stuff too if you have the right class. There is no death penalty, or penalty to losing, you just respawn and try again and that makes the combat boring to me. Playing EVE Online, even though the combat is pretty boring in itself, it is heightened so much by knowing you could lose everything on you and your heart races so fast.

The other thing is this doesn't look like a Bounty Hunter to me. This isn't Bounty Hunter Gameplay, I wanted bounty hunter PVP to be what it was in SWG. You're taking missions for players with Bounties on their heads and seeking them and killing them. Yet this doesn't exist in SWTOR and it is such a shame. World PVP doesn't exist in the game as well because there is nothing worth fighting over.

It just feels like another WoW clone that will be forgotten.
