Like many of you, I somehow remember my high school days when hearing this song. I somehow liked the part that begins at 2:02 or so; it seemed fun and exciting.
im so glad that someone has good sousa marches like these. they are not only fun to listen to, but also some of the best to play, at least in my opinion
Another great Poruguese in the History if USA to go along with the Giant of the Revolutionary War Peter Francisco of which General Washington said without him we would have lost many battle and probably the war.
@PORTUGAL1010 Why are you posting this same message in every video containing a John Phillip Sousa march? Go post it in videos about Portugal instead? Or maybe the Portuguese National Anthem?
@nauort23 There was a son of a Portugese immigrant named John Phillipso. He was a billiant musician and patriotic such that he joined USMC and rose to the rank of Seargant Major (E-9). He became the director and compose the US Marine Corps band, to become a special branch named "The President's Own". He was so overtaken with his patriotism, changed his name by adding three letters to the end of his name, the letters U-S-A.
second bassoon and loving it! :) i love the xylo solo, 'tis my favoite part. our conductor only had french horns and clarinets and of course the xylo play there. it was awesome. :)
One of my favorite marches, although an unusually subdued arrangement and not at all in keeping with the original spirit of the piece. After all, it is the official march of the US Cavalry.
Played this for 2012 BSU honor band today

If you want to hear a classic Sousa march, try The Black Horse Troop.

@Mortechai uhhhhhh, because Sousa was an American of Portuguese descent, perhaps? Of all the things to object to on YouTube...

Nothing in music captures the gallop of a cavalry troop on parade as this masterpiece. And oh, those hoofbeats!
