Re: Facts straight. Fellow Congressmen Barney Frank and Maxine Waters OPENLY RESISTED efforts by banking regulators to require Fannie and Freddie to raise capital reserves. All of this happened under the nose of Mr Paul. The events that led to the "financial melt down" were in his face. He was there.

Yet what does Paul do? He called for "more transparency" on the part of Ben Bernanke, the Fed chairman!

There are 435 members of Congress, 100 members in the Senate. And you try to blame Ron Paul, who has voted consistently with the Constitution, for what other House and Senate members, who have violated their oaths under the Constitution, have supported. Don't lay the blame at Ron Paul's feet for what Frank and Waters have done.

The lending crisis started with the Community Reinvestment Act signed by Jimmy Carter in 1977. Bill Clinton signed an Executive Order that required banks to lend specifically to inner city Negros. ACORN located and advised low-income borrowers -- recruited them -- to exploit CRA. Fannie and Freddie bought these toxic mortgages, repackaged them as securities and sold them to investors, many of which were foreigners.

Ron Paul wasn't in Congress in 1977. He had nothing to do with any of this crap. Since he has been in Congress he has voted against any legislation that even remotely smells unconstitutional. Let the record show that the TRUE Republicans warned "about this crap" over and over. AND they voted unanimously in committee (about 2007, maybe 2008) to put the GSEs under tighter regulation. The Dems filibustered and the bill was defeated. Ron Paul is aware of all of this. Yet he (falsely) blames ALLEN GREENSPAN for keeping interest rates low (during a time when inflation was zero and the economy needed a boost.)

I know that the Fed's policies have created investment bubbles but the Fed can only try to put out the fires CAUSED BY Congrssional OVER-SPENDING. I heard about Ron Paul during the debates, not from Alex Jones. Trevor Lyman learned about Ron Paul during the debates. Millions of us learned about Ron Paul simple because he ran for President and participated in the debates. Now you want to smear him because he associates with others who, like him, demand less gov, not more. If given a chance, I would also smear Bush, and so would millions of others. I don't subscribe to the 9/11 Truth Movement, I'm no big fan of Alex Jones, and I've never paid any attention to the Socialist International or pretty much any other group. I am an independent politically and intellectually. Like I said before, I never heard of Ron Paul before the debates. I was impressed by the truth of his arguments, something you seem unable to grasp, and that is not a trick. You're on the wrong path.
