  • I like being attracted to the sound of The Beach Boys

tôi như bị cuốn hút vào thứ âm thanh của The Beach Boys

  • Everything after @1:02... so very mesmerizing. I don't even have the words to express what I feel here... but I love it.

  • I listened to this on a 45 rpm (the flipside of Good Vibrations) over and over again when I was a teenager. Absolutely beautiful and perfect for meditating and daydreaming of laying on a tropical beach....forever..........AHHHHHHH!

  • perfection.

  • "Let's Go Away for Awhile" by The Brian Wilson Orchestra. Love it!

  • would love to go back to the '60s and meet Brian, Dennis and Carl at a hip cat party with cool music like this!

  • @TheLyricslass ME TOO!!!!!!!!

  • modern musical genius

  • lol. try to hum the melody of this song. there's like four different things going on at once, and the best part is that it all fits together perfectly. amazing song.

  • @libertyhopeful18

    'four'?

    lol

  • I remember this as the "B-Side" of "Good Vibrations". And I may be the only one says this--but I found this far more interesting! I sat listening to this track over and over again, marvelling at how that 23 year old kid with the goofy smile on the cover of the "Good Vibrations" 45 single could come up with something like this. This is Beethoven stuff! And the most beautiful song I have ever heard!

  • This song is my be all and end all

  • Lets go away, lets go away too paradise.

  • Great Song!! It reminds me of "Lonely without You" by Ken Koenig <--- Another great song! Check it out if you haven't heard it yet! Let me know what you think of it too! :)

  • This song is incredible. I fell in love with it as a young child. It will be one of my favorite songs forever.

  • good luck humming this one haha

  • May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.

  • From 1:54 on...it expresses hope for great future...for all of us, cos we all walked away for awhile from our childhood...

  • This is amazing. How do you write songs like this?

  • This song sounds cosmic to me,in particular from 1:33 on.That incredibly simple sounding guitar strum at 1:33 will always be echoing somewhere not on this earth.

  • @tonyjaffer Exactly.

  • @tonyjaffer wow thanks for pointing out. thats beautiful. the reason I look up songs on youtube is for comments like these, i might have never discovered that nuance!

  • this morsel just capsulizes so much, something expressly "60´s", so textured, layered, as BW only could, bitesized but not superficial, lyricism, unclassifiable, I associate the xylophone too much with lounge music, here it stretches and extends the melody, folks are saying "too short", that would detract from the intensity, thanks for this vision Brian and super session musicians

  • one of my favorite Beach Boys songs; wish it was longer too. Thanks Brian.

  • @snmthecloser LOz, go somewhere dude!!!

  • @snmthecloser People who have "sucks balls" as part of their colloquial vernacular are probably not going to get "Pet Sounds". My advice to you is, stay in school, finish 8th grade, and perhaps your musical horizons will someday expand beyond Insane Clown Posse.

  • Comment removed

  • @joe44850 Unless the phrase 'sucks balls' is preceded by the phrase 'Insane Clown Posse' when they use it.

  • So glad my uncle left behind so many great records when he passed in '95. At 23 years old, practically all I listen to is 50's and 60's rock n' roll, beach music and pop. Not a bad thing I'd say!

  • Wow, this is the 1st time I've ever heard this song. Who would've knew that masterpieces like this were hidden away from me for 17 years of my life.

  • I wish this was longer too. I love this. It's so dream like.

  • you were so young and so beautiful Brian...

  • Ahhhh, NOW I see where Stereolab got their inspiration. This is amazing.

  • Could someone post the lyrics, please?

  • If you want to see my homemade video for this lovely song, check my channel out. I'm also looking to possibly create more videos for the entire album :).... if you didn't click my link then i hate you... ;)

  • Very pretty piece.

  • 1:07= THE CHORD

  • this is a horrible mix. guys, in order to truly experience pet sounds, you must buy the original mono mix on LP. the difference is night and day

  • @dorkhunter1 no one has ever heard smile you idiot. ALSO You can't judge somthing you cant or don't do.

  • @borgessmorges I agree with every bit of that. This was probably their worst album, although Smiles would give it a run for the money. It's amazing the people who suddenly think this is some great recording now when everyone hated it for the first 30 years it was out.

  • @sthugh lol....you are kidding right?

  • @borgessmorges Whoa, Internet tough guy. Pet Sounds has been ranked not only by critics but artisits alike as one the best albums of all time. And other members didn't like it? If it was up to Mike Love they would still be singing all about surfing and cars. I'll take the opinion of the Beatles, Cream, Elvis Costello and Dylan over a brain dead troll like yourself. Clowns like you are easily disposed of.

  • My favorite track from this album. I imagine myself on a flight with this song playing in the background.

  • Nice to hear a pure instrumental number for once!

I don't mean from the Beach Boys (they're awesome!). I mean, in general, in popular music these days! (ok. by "these days", I mean, in the past 20,000 days)

  • Nice to hear a pure instrumental number for once!

  • i love pet sounds!!!!!!!!!!

  • Charles Manson.

  • If only it was longer...

  • This is so incredibly beautiful - so soulful and deep. Look how many of us appreciate it here - probably all from such varied backgrounds, but we recognize the true genius, and the fact that 2 or 3 minutes can define periods in our lives in a musical snapshot. A static memory forever - proof we were here. We lived this. We lived it and appreciated it with Brian.

  • @jazzgirl232 Nice comment. You've said it all.

  • It works. Addictive track.

  • I think I read that BW was most satisfied with this particular tune.

  • 6 dislikes?!

  • wonderful music by a wonderful band,, obviously

  • tyndall420: Good to hear people stand up for Brain, me included! I just didn't want to go in detail about his life. I know he's not a recluse now but only a period after the death of his father. You've got your facts straight! Didn't mean to bring him down, God no! A true Fan.

  • Sorry weaselidiotu about my spelling. Drank too much wine! What happenend? You know: Brain lost control after the death of his father and became a recluse.

  • @AlfredKubrick Thanks for the reply. I am only now discovering The Beach Boys for what a superb band they were. I will read into them when I get the time. This album is very good in all aspects!

  • @AlfredKubrick That is not true. Murray's death did affect Brian but he was already damaged at that point. The collapse of Smile and the resentment from his own cousin had already taken a toll on Brian well before his dad died. As for recluse. How is he a recluse if he still makes records and tours the world? I saw Brian in 2009 and have tickets for a June show in Toronto. Listen to his 2010 Reimagines Gershwin album. Brian is not a recluse and is currently in great musical form.

  • @tyndall420 Indeed.

  • I wish this song could last forever

  • Great to hear that so many people think this is a high piont in Brian Wilson's career. I thought I was the only one. It's really Brian Wilson's pinnacle like Karateworm discribes above. It's on the same level as a Burt Bacharach composition! Wish Brian had done more great stuff but we all know what happend. Nevertheless: together with Bacharach he's one of the great composers of the 60's and beyond!!!

  • @AlfredKubrick so what happened? :s

  • 1:53 is one of the best moments in music

  • @huntermm8 Nope 1:08

  • @huntermm8 1:53 to end is one of my favorite sections of music ever.

  • Comment removed

  • The most satisfying piece of music I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Thank you Brian.

  • If there's a piece of pop music more beautiful and life affirming than this, I'd like to hear it.

  • 4 people went away for too long

  • The fag four disliked this video. (3 Jonass + bieber)

  • @ddr122 That's because Jone ass and barber's music will die just like the New girls on the street corner.

  • this song sounds like a smooth summer evening!

totally beautiful, Brian Wilson is God!

  • Such an unusual song and that's why I've always loved it. Totally unique and original.

  • 4 people need to go and buy a hearing aid!!

  • Bullion cut this song magnificently.

  • sublime

  • Man, that chord that comes around 0:05 (D major/F) is pretty "out there" harmony wise. Brian was really experimenting with some complex harmonies at this time. And I was even more surprised to learn that he arranged this on his own. Love had David Angel, The Beatles had George Martin, The Rollling Stones had Jack Nietzche, respectfully, but Brian had himself. Pretty amazing stuff. I truly love this track.

  • extremely beautiful

  • one of the 10 best album ever

  • The swell starting at 1:25 is so haunting.

    Transcendent music.

  • i love love love the beginning<3

  • I wish this was longer.

  • @LouDawg808

    That's what she said

  • @LouDawg808 its length just adds to the beauty in my opinion

  • @LouDawg808 that's what she said

  • It's what's to chill to...

  • WOW IN LUV ALL OVER AGAIN WITH MUSIC AFTER HEARIN THIS

  • This is just sublime - One of the best instrumental tracks of all time and criminally short - beautiful!!

  • this is the song to play when your done with the minutae of life. like walking the dog doing the dishes throwing out the trash kissing yer husband douching scrubbing the tile sneering in the mirror loving your life.

  • Brian just needs to come out with an all instrumental album already! That would be amazing.

  • A real lesson in chord structure - also if you don't know it, The High Llama's song 'the Goat' (instrumental) does a pretty good job of recreating the feel of this.

  • Incredible music!

  • seriously this is very interesting but BB fans back then must have been sayin WTF ??

  • One day I will make love to this song. One day.

  • @cruzman3608 sorry its mine now :0

  • i want this song to be played at my funeral !

    and at my wedding !

  • It is not just a music of The Beach Boys,It is a music of harmony,a music of Universe......

  • great song....

  • good music

  • "Pet Sounds" didn't go platinum until the 21st Century. That's how far Brian Wilson was ahead of the music scene.

  • Pet Sounds is, and will probably always be my favourite album of all time. This song is the pinnacle of Brian Wilson's vision. It cannot age, it cannot date - it is a timeless masterpiece.

  • @Karateworm

Love your comment. i'm just getting into the bb

  • @joecc6 Buy Pet Sounds. Friends. 20/20 Sunflower. Surf's Up and Today... and buy Smile from 2004... Smile is pretty difficult to get your head around, but my god... it is incredible.

  • @Karateworm

cool thanks. I'm gonna start wih Pet Sounds...

  • @joecc6 As another Beach Boys fan, I have to add Wild Honey and Love You to Karateworm's recommendations. Those are two fantastic A++ albums.

  • dios santo que hermosa musica, no haya nada en la actualidad que me refresque tanto como esta belleza...en realidad, gracias musica y gracias a brian wilson por entregarnos esta pieza maestra. has lavados mis oidos de la basura que existe hoy en dia. ( regeton )

  • This really is sublime. *sigh*

  • Brian was the Mozart of rock. He is one of the few composers in pop over the whole last century capable of composing music on a level of intricacy and majesty that classical composers have been associated with. Even the two Beatles writers, who were fine writers, couldn't compose with such an ear for music. Nonetheless, Brian had his problems like so many geniuses before and after him. But at least he's still with us.

  • probably one of the first modern instrumental songs

  • This is a brutally good tune...I mean...just listen!

  • best song ever..

  • Wonderful soul sounds. The world owes BW so much.

  • I think it's always a great thing when a rock band isn't afraid to compose "outside of the box" and go beyond their musical boundaries. Pet Sounds shows the Beach Boys versatility and Brian Wilson's genius. The Who did it with Tommy, Deep Purple did it with the London Symphony, Queensryche did it with Operation Mindcrime, and I'm sure there are other great examples.

  • THE W R EC K I N G C R E W

  • @rentatrip1 You Bet. Hal Blaine and Friends

  • Pure love - soothing and healing for the soul x

  • Beautiful Vibes...?

  • Beethoven beats this by a gazillion times - and he's a couple of hundred years older. This is a regression.

  • @SolidandVoid beethoven didn't produce pop music and couldn't record instruments in the innovattive and sublime ways that brian wilson could. this is a progression-maybe even beyond our time

  • @SolidandVoid It's not a competition!!

  • @dmcguire70 U r awesome man not many people ive met understand that music isnt about competing, its about the love n emotion n connection u have with people and yourself. John Frusciante(old red hot chili peppers guitarist) said somthin like how he thinks musicians r the best role models. n they r because there is nothin negative about music, with music every real great musician is lookin to help u out, not tryin to be better. Unlike like everything else, where everyones lookin to fuck u over

  • @PinkFloyd806

that's a very thoght provoking comment. thanks.

  • @SolidandVoid So, go back there and stay.

  • @SolidandVoid

If "Let's Go Away For Awhile" is a regression (mind you, this is pop music a different genre from Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven to begin with)... then what the fuck are we left with today???

You're just a hater... if you don't like it don't listen. Check out MTV i hear that shit is great lol

  • @SolidandVoid

I don't think so... you can't really compare the two because they're different genres. This is pop music, and I'd say it's pretty damn good pop music.

  • One of the best song ever !!!

  • muito bom!!

  • I like this but I like "Pet Sounds" even more, as far as instrumentals go.

  • pure beauty

  • muito bom.

  • Brian Wilson=God

  • uyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i love it song relamente es fantastica

  • trippiest song on pet sounds right here

  • Indescribably beautiful. No record collection is complete without this delicacy.

  • I love instrumental. It evokes a long drive on a sunny Saturday morning. Destination unknown. Just watching the seagulls cruising the surf.

  • Brian really was a great orchestrator. His change got blown somehow after this. we know that smile would have been the greatest rock album of all tme had it been completed as Brian did 20 years later. love this tune. you'd never known it was the Beach Boys,

  • @up2space pet sounds is one of the most moving records i've ever heard in my life...and i first heard it in about 1997...it is full of atmosphere and nostalgia and pain - with bits of druggy happiness and self-imposed loneliness....jesus - it is the america we all still dream of here in england...although i think it's long gone.

  • @uclrichard this has got to be one of the best albums of all times ( not to paraphrase muhammed ali) but anyway thanks for the comment. Is England in the mud puddle like the US now? The US is over, my friend. If England is pretty bad, you know who's to blame. anyway, keep loving this music. self imposed loneliness is good sometimes. just make sure it doesn't ruin your life.

  • I recall how LET'S GO AWAY FOR A WHILE was on the flip side of GOOD VIBRATIONS 45rpm record. by the Beach Boys. I purchased this about 44 years ago and I could still remember. Thank you for posting this.

  • I finally heard Pet Sounds for the first time last summer.

Awesome album, and this track really stood out for me. It totally has that early 60's vibe.

  • It really carries you away !

  • Absolutely beautiful. I used to listen to this song all the time when I was only 14 and now @57 it's still beautiful.

  • Sounds like something that would be played in a mall.

  • This song is perfect! When I hear this song, I think of it as Gods theme song. A song he would jam too! :)

  • let's go far away beyound the clouds

  • Im not sure on the other songs "yet" but the two insturmentals in the album are out of this world....

  • Wow i've never heard this album... They were right this is a masterpiece.

So somber, so beautiful, so haunting, there is something underneath the surface that is very haunting.

  • Indeed. The Beach Boys really don't get a fair shake nowadays they are known for the early surf/car tunes... Brian Wilson was really a true genius this is the kind of stuff that should be more popular.

Pet Sounds is a masterpiece. Glad you've been turned onto it better late than never! BTW I love your music taste (saw your favs) I'm a huge Soundgarden fan myself, good stuff...

  • Couldn't agree more with your first paragraph!

  • muito bom!!! ate logo!!!

  • I have always loved this tune, I didn't have Pet Sounds when it came out but I did have it on a B side of a single. It just sends me, takes me somewhere, it's delicious. it's an amazing melody.

  • This piece truly shows how much magic music contains, and how beautiful this magic may be.

  • I got mesmerized by this composition from its first sounds. It makes me dream... I associate it with a deep nigh, moonlight, streets in some old town where I'd wander, all alone. Something mysterious. It really makes me imagine so much. Such an amazing visualization. "Pet Sounds" instrumental does them same.

  • brilliant drama, and no signature melody or lyrics, incredible!

  • You can hear the beginning of Brian starting to implement the "modular" approach to composing that he favored during the following SMiLE project.

There are three distinct movements of this song. It is kind of disturbing to think that part of the whole modular, disjointed approach Brian used in the SMiLE sessions (part of the reason he never finished it) were a reflection of his scattered mindset at the time.

    Strange days they were...

  • Incredible - I almost feel Brian Wilson accomplished more in this composition that Pink Floyd did in the entire "Dark Side of the Moon album" - can anyone hear "Us and Them" lifted from this?

  • @roberhau Yes I can hear Us and Them in there, you are right. It's a great song but I disagree with the Pink Floyd comment, but each to their own. :)

  • @roberhau stretching things a bit hear

  • @roberhau I was thinking the same the first time I heard this today!
