That said, how are glass harps even possible?

My guess is the water density with the weight. Depending on how big the glass is and the weight of the water, you can produce sound. The more water there is, the deeper the octave.

@ForlanceAbice Actually, it's the shape of the glass, the glass can be completely empty can it'll still work (but it will be very high pitched)

It doesn't even have to be water, any liquid will do, the specific roundish shape of the glass resonates and makes the sound, the water only alters it

What I'm amazed by is that he could go that long without stopping, the rim of the glass has to be wet for it to work, and when I do it it usually dries up after a few seconds

Excuse me, but I think it's actually more a sign of author insight. Not neccesarely writing skill, but the fact that the author realizes that most of his/her readers have probably never heard this kind of music, which IS kind of specific.

In other fics, I have seen the author linking to music and also pictures too; in my opinion, it was quite welcome to have something to supplement my fantasy when I read. I wish more authors did it, infact.
