@meade916 That's really really odd... i've only had one WD drive fail on me, and that was a 7 year old 250GB drive. One of the first gen of that size, so it was pretty loud and ran hot, and eventually the heat inside the external enclosure killed it. Took forever though.
Other than that, i've NEVER had a WD drive fail on me. The older Raptors did have problems though. Especially the 3.5inch ones. They ran insanely hot and burnt up pretty quickly. The Veloci raptors are supposed to fix that.

@meade916 I switched to Hitachi GST after 2 WD's and several seagates died on me. I've had 4 Hitachi 1Tb's for over a year now. Just added a couple 2Tb's. Haven't failed me yet.
@meade916 i have a WD external HDD that I have used for 5 years now, I literally use it everyday with transferring video files back and forth as well as music and movies and such. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

hey steve or anyone else that can answer this, i just bought 2 12" kicker comp series subs for 99.99.my plan was to use them in my home system until i put them in a car.i have a powered sub at my house w/ built in amp.i run the speakers & subs into the p.sub and from the p.sub to the receiver.would this work?i have been told many different answers, some say it will work the system will just heat up quickly, others say it will blow everything.so please reply, PM me.any help is needed.thanks(:

hey steve was the harddrive a Seagate? i can bet it was, get a Western Digital, theyre really good..i had a 1TB Seagate, went in less than a month, no bullshit, it started clicking the 2nd week, and kept giving me blue screens

@meade916 That's really really odd... i've only had one WD drive fail on me, and that was a 7 year old 250GB drive. One of the first gen of that size, so it was pretty loud and ran hot, and eventually the heat inside the external enclosure killed it. Took forever though.
Other than that, i've NEVER had a WD drive fail on me. The older Raptors did have problems though. Especially the 3.5inch ones. They ran insanely hot and burnt up pretty quickly. The Veloci raptors are supposed to fix that.

My HDD was Seagate Barracuda 80 GB and guess what ? still working :D No BSOD or other shit, also owner of 5 years old 200 GB Seagete Barracuda, it still working too.
And my friend's HDD was WD, it died after a year.

@meade916 I switched to Hitachi GST after 2 WD's and several seagates died on me. I've had 4 Hitachi 1Tb's for over a year now. Just added a couple 2Tb's. Haven't failed me yet.

@meade916 i have a WD external HDD that I have used for 5 years now, I literally use it everyday with transferring video files back and forth as well as music and movies and such. I haven't had a problem with it yet.
