  • RIP Norman Wisdom...always in our Hearts :') x

  • Does anybody know where this army camp is/was, please?

  • @mattsmate

Woodenz ~ It may be just a film {we all know that} but it was still filmed at a location that is real!!! Some of us research film locations and this location is proving to be very difficult to trace down. If that means we need to get a life......... maybe you do things that others don't undersatnd!!

  • @COOKIESMINI Why not? As good as collecting railway engine numbers.

If it is of any help all army camps are/were listed at the then War Office and I have seen a map of Britain from the 1970's showing the ones & in use open then. If you check the records from the year the film was made that will give you a start. My guess would be a camp training National Servicemen not too far from the studio. The drill squad are actually very good - too good to be actors.

  • "Give them an inch and they take a mile...oh they have done!"

    "DISMISS FOR TEA!"

    LOL!

If anyone tried to remake any of his movies then they really are stupid.

  • I was first introduced to Sir Norman when I was little. My Nan bought me The Square Peg and I think... Trouble in Store (I think) And he's been an idol ever since.

Such a shame. But he lived a long and glorious life.

    Rest in peace Norman Wisdom.

  • anyone know where i can find a part in the film where Norman says "oh I see you make joke ha ha ha" then slaps the man across the face? I cant find it anywhere

  • Dear Sir norman you are time less in all of what you do , in your films , your live shows and comedy as a hole , you bring a real sence of warm well being , love , sadness and happiness , all rolled in to one some times , it brings every one together and will do for time and time to come , with love ,sadness and happiness knock um down up there and keep on storming a head with all the laughter and tears of joy you give to every one , god bless with love from tony jean and josh 5th october 2010

  • PURE CLASS R I P SIR NORMAN

  • Totally heartbreaking news about Sir Norman Wisdom. Grew up watching and loving all Normans films. A genuinely funny man who never received the full recognition that he so richly deserved for his work. Suppose now the newspapers can call him a comic genius when all his fans have known it for years. Goodnight Sir.

  • RIP Sir Norman Wisdom

  • @stingray4real Yes, sad. But I am sure Mr Grimsdale is waiting for him.

  • @Joshua12345 i can imagine norman getting to the pearly gates and Mr Grimsdale saying 'where have you been Pitkin?'

  • What year is this set in?

    1940? 41? 42 even?

  • I think the 'orrible term / phrase the pros would use is, it's just a generic WW2 scenario, but - for it to be any way realistic it should really be sometime in 1944 just before France was liberated.

  • @Joshua12345

    KKO!

So we are talking early or mid summer then, or even late sping.

I also remember Morcambe and Wise, Bernard Bresslaw (Twinkle Toes) and The Army Game...not to mention the football pools and glacier mints and licorice all-sorts. Cheerio, lads.

  • Did you go to School in the American Base at Bushy Park by any chance?

  • Why, yes, I did? How about you? I also attended the school at Bushy Hall before we moved to a different house.

  • Thanks for replying so quickly. My name is Chas by the way, No I didn't go to the School in Bushy park but I know of it. I am English and lived in Teddington and attended Schools in Hampton Wick not far from the Base. I was a frequent visitor to the Base and was treated very well by you parents generation. I am in contact with Gary who edits Bushy Park Tales. If you know of a way of me sending you my email address privately please let me know so I can tell you more.

  • Thanks fo posting this, Sir orman will be remembered highly for his Pipkins days. I grew up on his films and still have them now. My son has grown up on them aswell. He will never be forgotten :)

  • An equal to Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

  • I grew up in communist Albania, one of the most absurd dictatorships that ever existed. He was one of the few comics from the English speaking world that we were allowed to see, and one of the few things that us Albanians feel nostalgic about when it comes to that period. Heaven bless your soul Mr. Wisdom. A truly great man that brought a lot of light to our lives.

  • he is class i just love him to bits thank you
