@mpag96 Yes, they would. Their lifespan is shorter than normal street tires, but they grip way better. Using them in heavy rainfall isn't recommended.
The stiff sidewall is annoying contrary to what the reviewer states. They take a lot longer than 1min to warmup. Try about 5 0-180kph blasts and they are then at operation temperature putter around for 1 minute my arse.
The next thing is they really do only last about 5000 street kms before they are illegally bald. The next 5000kms is great because they are so close to slicks but the compound has gone hard.
The fact is they start at 5mm tread, so you only have 4mm to wear
That was one of the most complete descriptions of a tire on yt. He covered a lot of points, not just for performance, but addressing comfort concessions as well. A lot a "reporters" will always say positive comments about something because they're being sponsored by the manufacturer of the product. But tread life was consistently mentioned, and that wasn't too much of a concern considering it's a performance tire. Thanks for the post!
However you shouldnt drive around the streets on them ;). They are only good for so many heat cycles. Semi slicks usually go stale before the tread wears down as well.
I've used them for both street and track (road coarse) days. They offer amazing grip over any street tire and on the track they give a lot of feedback. My first time on the track with them I was really impressed. I have several videos on my page where I used them. The problem is that they are now hard to find.
How are these tires for drag racing? I'm thinking of using them on my SL65, mostly on street, but for occasional drag use. What are the expected 60' with this tire?
Great info- I've been considering R888's to replace my Pirelli Corsas...Also on an Impreza. The corespondent confirmed and raised my enthusiasm for this RA1 replacement. Thanks to he who posted this!

@fucksalt669 People shouldn't be speeding on the freeway in the rain period.

@fucksalt669 i can assure you they don't, surprisingly not too bad in the wet, but then again i don't drive like a maniac when its wet

The fun part with R888 is that they grip better when the treads are gone..:) I gained 2 seconds on a 1.9 km track using "worn out" R888's.

My brother has had a set of these for about a year now. He's been to the track about 5 times, been skidding etc and theres still heaps of tread.

Anybody used those for Autocross? Do you think they are suitable for that or just roadcoarse?
LeontariF1 3 years ago
they'd be ok for Auto-x but i would go with something that warms up quicker personally. These are road racing tires imo like the RA-1's.
