I WAS FUCKING THERE!!! I've seen Queen, I've seen Judas Priest, I've seen Testament, I've seen Dicky Betts, not one of them compared to this show. Yea, I know that those bands are older and not as exciting, but all the other bands that are around Trivium's age that I've seen don't hold a candle either. This show was simply amazing.

why does he use it? is it hard to use an untriggered double bass

It helps in that you can tune the drum sounds so they are audible through all of the guitars, bass, vocals.

Usually he doesnt use triggers but since Shogun when they play live they speed up all their songs to make them more difficult, sound heavier and allow them to fit more songs in, and since the songs are sped up you need triggers to play them at their new speed. But yes triggered bassdrums are alot easier to play because you dont need to hit the drum skin as hard and so makes it a little bit more effortless though its usually made up for in the increased speed of non-triggered Double bass drumming
