Where can we watch the English dub that was shown in Asia? I've only found one episode of the nonForce5 English dub. Unlike Jim Terry the other older English dub was for every episode, not just 26eps. Jim Terry never even dubbed the 1st episode.
I never was a big fan of Dangard's vehicle mode... It looks too bulky and awkward, i think... And the transformation itself isn't the best i have seen... Still, neat robot.
Force Five is awesome! I remember watching this and Star Blazers when I was a Kid. I'm 43 years old now but when I see the Force Five and Star Blazers clips on youtube I get such a nostalgic feeling.
Now that i am older (38) and having watched this show as a kid...i can honestly say 3 things... 1. its still AWESOME 2. Better than any shite that is out today and 3. Unfortunately the music sounds like 70s porn music...bad
My brother and I would throw a blood curdling teeth splitting sent from hell fit if -anything- prevented us from missing the bliss that was FORCE FIVE. NOTHING was better. NOTHING else mattered.
I have the entire 5 series all on DVD!!!!Astro BAAAAAAAATTTT! Screw crusher punch!!!, Spin saucersssss!!! Hydro fasers!! Shoot in!!!!Star Arrow....Dragon formation switch on!
@jptang1701 if you go on Ebay and search force five, i think you can order it as well!! if not Ebay thern google it!!! thats how i got mine! God Bless!
problem with the series at least the cfmt versions, is that they consistently didn't show all the episodes. danguard ace, starvengers and Spaceketeers are 3 off the top of my head that i can think of that they didn't complete.
Holy shit! I'm now 34 years old and this song still in my head. I used to watch this in the 80's in Toronto. I can't believe I just solved that strange tune in my head..lol.
yeah, funny I never was crazy about DA either. My friend was though. I used to idolize Jesse Dart at age 10-11. and I was a huge Grandizer kid- I liked that character, Panhandle! I started to like Dangurd Ace toward the end of the shows run in Boston. A sad day, those were the good 'ol days...
i remember FORCE FIVE too. i grew up in Boston in the 70's-80's. and raced home from school to watch these shows, and it is funny that i remember the Danguard Ace theme song the most because it was the "corniest" too me. regardless, this was and still is great anime! Starvengers (Tuesday!) were my favorite..
I'm glad to know they got to see Harken, at least. If Captain Dan's ID wasn't revealed, it means the whole purpose of the producers was ignored! Danguard Ace was about father-son relationship.
That's why grown-ups like me are in this kind uploading so often:-) I'm so grateful I grew up with anime gems 3 decades ago. The legacy of good works should continue on somewhere...
Right... they never got to see the elite enemy officer Tony Haken... the legendary guest character in Danguard Ace who was more popular than Takuma(the main guy) himself.
I think I've still got a Danguard Ace "Shogun Warriors" (and Star Dragun from the Starvengers) die-cast action figure around in the attic somewhere. His leg broke off a long time ago though.
Man, I loved the Force Five TV show when I was a kid. I rushed home everyday after school to watch it.I still remember the order of the shows(Monday-Danguard Ace,Tuesday-Star Vengers Wed-Spaceketters, Thurs-Grandizer Fri- Gaiking) 25 years later.Danguard Ace & Gaiking were my favs.I searched for years for these shows on video before I finally found them on ebay a few years ago. Capt. Mask Rules!!
hollywood should make a movie of it...consisted of the following series: * Gaiking * Dangard Ace (Planetary Robot Dangard Ace) * Starvengers (Getter Robo G) * Grandizer (UFO Robot Grendizer) * Spaceketeers (Starzinger)
Here is another episode for Danguard Ace(a funny one). Mr.Matsumoto produced 2 volumes of comic books on Danguard Ace but he disliked giant robots so bad, although the title was the robot's name, Danguard Ace appeared only at the very last pages and then it was "The End." Hahaha! (Did you get it? Sorry, I'm a forever-ESL student...)
The original Gundam seems to be the kind of robot show Matsumoto would have made if he really cared for the concept...a couple of the folks behind the first Gundam worked on Yamato.
Gundam lacks the kind of romance which is Matsumoto's essencials. I don't like Gundum. Their perspective on history is so warped. If they wanted an anime with realistic stories, the Earth Federations should have been the ones who ransacked Zeon, or the fractions of Federation trying to annihilate the people in Zeon with no good reason.
Never mind. I just wonder how they got away using certain symbols and specific names or historical incidents in such irresponsibly negative ways. I found movie makers do such things a lot anyway. I guess they are out of ideas, and they seem to have quite specific message/agenda. If you didn't notice, it's subtle enough for you.
Thank you very much for your comments! I'm very happy to find those who share the same impressions. I post my comments to show that those sickening media is not sanctioned by all earthlings and that in fact some people are throughly disgusted at the current trends by now. I think some collective moral condition is required to produce something meaningful and artistically excellent as well.
Sygo7g, the description "wallpaper" was good! I couldn't come up with better words! I really miss those gallant men and beautiful-hearted women who'd give themselves away for the greater, noble cause...
That's because certain Japanese perspective or worldview is never compatible with American. I'm amazed how those toxic anime/manga are widely accepted in the West today. End of civilization is near... maybe?
I'm talking about recent-made ones. Should Japanese anime/manga gain popularity, it should have been late 70's or early 80's ones... numerous gems at that time. By the way, first Japanese animation was produced in 1963. Correct me if it's wrong.
I believe accurate transmission of meanings of the words is more important of all, even in songs. Anyone can make the lyrics singable by adjusting here and there, once the definition is clear. Danguard Ace opening/ending songs are not so exciting anyway, comparing to animes such as "Starblazers"!^^
To Sygo7g: I have Japanese lyrics and I can post the translations for you, ONLY if you want. NO guarantee you can sing along. This is the anime truly dear to my heart... for the last 3 decades! I'm happy to know there have been Amarican fans.^^ This is like a time machine...
are any of the shows or movies on a DVD somewhere that I can get....???? I remember watching these as a kid and they were just awesome then....and still are.
this show is older than me, but I watched it when we had a retro thing. I just remembered fondly that the guy in the mask is the pilot's father. Thanks so much .^-^
Did you know this anime was made to encourage fathers to spend more time with their sons?(originally aired in Sunday evenings in 1977) A beautiful anime with beautiful intention!
Seems like one of the many justifications Nippon Educational Television had for showing lots and lots of manga and toy based anime under an "Educational" license.
I'm not sure how much anime makers cared about "education" aspect at those days, though I do know they had to make sure the sponsors' toys sold well. Giving children the dream of space odyssey must be fun for artists themselves anyway, except meeting the deadlines each week.
For those who forgot the story... Of the entire 56 episodes, first 35 are about Captain Dan training his son Takuma. Takuma discovers Dan's his father only right before his death! It's very, very emotional as you can imagine. The later episodes are concentrated on combats with the enemy's smashing-looking elite officer Tony Haken. The enemy was destroyed by disillusioned Tony, and Takuma and his team reach their dream planet Prometheus at the end.
I lived in Toronto when I was a kid and this was on! It's sooo strange I thought I was the only person on the earth to ever watch Force Five lol, Nobody I have ever met since then had ever heard of this show.
That is exactly what I thought. That's why I'm so excited and happy to know that there were some N.American children who loved this and "Starblazers" decades ago just like I did, because I was worrying if we were two different entities. What truly good attracts people anyway.
Brother, i'm in your corner. I grew up in Brampton, did like everyone else here, and sure enough, got nothing but blank stares a few years later whenever i brought it up. Don't worry Kabuki theatre, you're not alone up here!
Can you please upload episode #42? It is the gem of whole 56 episodes of Danguard Ace with the guest character, a beautiful alien girl Noel. You see, it was Christmas time in 1977 when it was first aired in Japan.
I used to live in Franklin, MA & Windham, NH. Anyone else remember Mr. Big's Toyland in Waltham? I got my first Star Balzers toy there when I had my tonsils out - still have it - die cast Yamato. Awesome memories.
I remember how there was 1 show in a series for each day of the week. i don't think I ever missed an episode of these shows. oh, I'm a New Englander too
True. I used to watch this in New Hampshire when I was young and when I moved to NY at age 9, no one knew what I was talking about. It's nice to know I'm not crazy. ;-)
Amazon has the first 2 episodes: search under "Danguard Ace" as well. Japan has the complete 56 episodes in 2 DVD boxes, but now it's only in used stores or auction. If you love this anime, check out "Grendizer" and "Daimos." They were made in similar years with same/similar artists in Japan.
I was a military brat stationed at Howard AFB Panama (1980-84)and this was our show on the AFRTS (Arm. Force. Radio. Televisions. Services.) Channel 8. This is the first time I have seen the opening of the show in at least 27 years. FLASH BACKS!!
did anyone in the U.S that was NOT in the Rhode Island/Eastern Massachuesetts area see this cartoon? I always ask dudes who are my age (31) and no one has seen it, other than people in that age group, in that region....let me know if you did.
Dallas, Ft. Worth Texas, as well. Although it was EARLY in the morning, like at 5:30am on KTVT Channel 11. Some news paper throwing friends of mine told me I "had" to get up and watch it. And I was hooked.
You did it? Good for you; I would have done it, too. This anime, I believe, helped Japan to have anime boom in 1977 with "Yamato." The blond haired, young elite officer Tony Haken was in much talk among anime-loving high students back then.
Ha ha! Did they only show Force Five in Rhode Island? How weird! I was 9 in 1980 and lived in Warwick at the time. I loved Force Five and I even had the Shogun Warrior for Danguard Ace.
My favorite FF was Spaceketeers by far. I used to run around swinging an old broomhandle like I was Jesse Dart.
Ha ha! Yes! Channel 56, wow! My family moved away from Rhode Island to California in early 1980 and I remember being really pissed off because there was no Channel 56 and no Force Five and no Starblazers in LA! We Rhode Island kids had it good back then!
The WACKIEST opening music of all five shows. Danguard Ace so BORING! It FOREVER (A MILLION EPISOES!) to build that robot. In the mean time we watched (ACE'S PILOT forgot his name) him get HAMMERD! In training by his DAD! CAPTAIN MASK! YAWN FEST! But I never missed an EPISODE! Love hurts nice clip.
