  • my fav from Goo Goo Dolls...love this song so much! Thx for posting the vid...

  • my uncle was offered to be thier new drummer back in the day before they got big. they new him from the past cuz they played in the same bars in buffalo so they remeberd him as a really good drummer which he is but he fell apart once he relized he gave up a once in a lifetime chance. the reason was cuz he just started a family but now he regrets it. its depressing to know he was that close to such a great band

  • Foda D+

    Meus Parabéns, ótima música !

    Os brasileiros agradecem !!

  • I like John Rzeznik . He is a talented guitarist " Name' is a smash hit from 1995 from the album " A Boy Named Goo " Still on airplay and best of all time.

  • i love it so much

  • my favorite song by far {: i listen to it every night before i go to sleep, it's my personal lullaby<3

  • ....Don't it make you sad to know that life, is more than who we are... Words of an old soul. This bands' lyrics don't cease to amaze me.

  • This song reminds me of my EX NjtH!

    I Miss Her Like Crazy!!!!!

I also like the part, "I think about you all the time

    I don't need the same...

It's lonely where you are, come back down

And I won't tell your name"

  • I LOVE THIS SONG<3

When I Hear It I Just Curl Up Inside Myself & Ball My Eyes Out<3

  • this is the song that brings back the magical, innocent, and sometimes sucky years of my youth. oh, how i miss being naive, free, and having no worries! love this song!

  • always liked this song. sounds a lot like the replacements...

  • THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!!111111 WHOS WITH MEE... mannn this song kicks up memories of my adolescence!

  • You and me both. Great times.

  • This is the greatest song from the Goo Goo Dolls. I started performing live in high school, and at the ripe old age of 15, this was the first song i ever played guitar and sang to in front of an audience (500+). To this day, I still get the same feelings when I hear it - I just crank it up and think of the "good ol' days". High school sweethearts and cool cars - Thanks to the Goo Goo Dolls for so many years of great music! They have been my favorite band for years!

  • in my personal opinion. the songmanship ( if thats a word) was far better in the mid to late 90's. a far better time for music then now.... these songs can evoke emotion that i feel songs of now cant. im just glad that i was coming of age in that time. as far as this song goes it hits me in that spot that makes me want to throw away the years and just go back to when things were good.

  • Yeah, but in a few years down the road you'll feel the same way about songs now, like you did back then. I know all of the GGD's songs will always give me that feeling :D

  • Yeah thanks man.I just remember us 3 running around and playing as little kids and now my cousin just cares about drugs and never wants to hang out with me,we used to be like brothers, hes 2 years older than me.I just look back at what a simpler and better time it was when we were all young,Where did all the years go.Time is a predator thats been stalking all of us all our lives.Idk what happend to us

  • i feel you, my best friend is two years older than me and when he went to highschool it was like i was invisible to him. I don't think we have spoken in at least 3 years and it is funny because we used to be inseparable. I miss him, especially since he is going to join the army and he is going away...

  • talk to your best friends....he needs you and you need him

  • Damn G4mer96, that is truly sad and depressing. Just keep on doing what you are doing and you will be ok, we can't always save those we love.

  • Reminds me of being really young and playing with my cousins.we were really close and we all grew up too fast.Ones messed up and the other that was like a brother to me is older and doesnt want to hang out with me and he does drugs and stuff.I miss bein a young kid, life was better.

  • Skankhermit,

If you hate the video that much, then just don't watch it . . .

Personally, I think that it's a really good song. If you can't appreciate that, then you can just piss off.

  • What happened to these guys did they fall off the face of the earth?

  • years ago i bought a cd player at a pawn shop and when i got home cranked it up three guesses who were inside. the player's long gone but the music will be there foever more.

  • I whish I had known goo goo dolls much time ago...

  • Aint it sad to know that life is more than who we are". Those are saddest truest lyrics i have ever heard. This song is so beautiful. Its the deepness of life that is captured in several minutes that most of us couldn't describe in ten years. We all grow up and experience pain and sorrow. They nailed it

  • Yeah, it is. I wouldn't say it's sad, but just realistic. We're too freaking obsessed with ourselves, but if any of us died, life would go on.

  • this song makes me very sad becouse every thing about it is all of who we are

  • The part(dont it make you sad to know that life,is more than who we are)that part hits me like a ton of bricks-and i did grow up way to fast!!!!!!

  • love this song.a big fan of the goo goo dolls

  • This is probably one of the most meaningful songs ever. I adore the Goos, and this song.

  • this is my favorite song by them

  • what year is this again?

  • circa 1995

  • Iris was a work of art..yes! I wonder if we will see more music like that in the near future. I miss that kind of music that is kind of basic in a way, but is so real and strikes at what you really feel...I call it a truth song, that still goes after the heart struggles of people.

  • Aw, why were the last chords cut off? :( The guitar is one of the best parts of this song.

  • I totally agree, its a signature to this song!! I love that little ending on there, its awesome!

  • This is one of the most beautiful-deep-wonderful songs ever!!!! It appeals 2 my soft side which i hide sometimes. This makes me think back on my life!

  • I feel the same way. I listened to some of the alternative songs from back in the late 90's..that's when I was in college..and these songs makes me think back to that time, and what I could have done different to make my life better. They also bring to memory a simpler time,...I guess music like this is kind of purer..certainly more pure than what we have in today's music. I guess I'll just listen to more smooth jazz.

  • OMG found this song thank god.

  • This song has always had deep meaning for me because its about runaways. At that time family life was hard for me and all I could think about was running away and leaving it everything behind. Its hard being young and feeling alone in such a big world, that the only thing you can think to do is just run away from all your problems and I did a few times. Things are different nowadays for kids, they'll never know the true meaning of neglect or abuse, my main reasons for running away.

  • thats not neccessarily true cause i'm only 18 but when i was smaller i knew what neglect was about...its not that my family didn't love me but they were always busy with work and school...thats it...i felt very alone...only people who seemed to acknowledge my existance where my friends....but it got lonely at night...at school..when i wasn't around my friends..it was like hell....made me want to commit suicide in 4th grade when my last friend moved away; luckily i decided to live for my friends

  • and now i'm glad i made that choice cause now its gotten much better...i have a few good friends; got back in contact with two of those three old friends going to try and make contact with the third. But i got some great friends now :) so its all good....now i can appreciate love and trusting someone and being there for someone when they need it a lot more than i could have :)

  • That's unfair. A lot of kids these days have faced horrors beyond anything you or I could probably imagine. It's nothing to do with the times.

  • this was my song when i was little.. i love it!

  • I swear its like he's singing to me...

  • Buffalo NY!!

  • "I think about you all the time, but I don't need the same.

It's lonely where you are, come back down, and I won't tell em' your name."

    one of my favorite lines...

  • "I think about you all the time, but I don't need the same.

It's lonely where you are, come back down, and I won't tell em' your name."

    one of my favorite lines...

  • Mine too... great lyrics

  • I like many of the Goo Goo Dolls' songs. This is one of the songs I like. I just heard it on the radio. There is some irony in the song, however. A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio. You don't say? Which song would that be? Hummm...? Just playing and making an observation.

  • this song is amazing! it says so many things that i can identify with, ''now were grown up orphans that never knew their names, we dont belong to no one thats a shame'' this part reminds me of when i was released from the orphanage... ''we grew up way too fast now theres nothing to believe and re runs all become our history'' i guess this part is what touches me the most. It feels like i never had a real childhood... i grew up way too fast.. =/

  • i was goin through sum of my letters and saw this from and old friend...maybe more it sux i never told her how i felt about her .. and this song is just breakin my heart..

  • Isnt that life bro..

  • iheartthissong. end of story. but if you like this you'll love Mat Kearney-Annie no spam! i promise. googoodolls-love :)

  • great song

  • don't it make you sad to know that life is more than who we are ...

    <3

  • This song is amazing and it was always on the radio in my area, it reminds me of the amazing summer that ive had, my last summer as a kid....heh

  • get a room... (mrjoecage & gilmore girl).

lol jk. i think its cute u guys are having heartfelt conversations on the comments to one of my all time fav songs.

  • bad audioooooo.......

  • shitty quality,,

  • if I'm smart, I'll walk away right now. nothing good will come of this. the only thing that will happen is that I will fall more in love with her and get hurt when it ends. because she won't ever love me back. yeah. not a fucking thing to do with this song, so what?

  • Maybe you would do better listening to emo music : / seriously though, get a grip.

  • yeah. its ok. she loves me back. today. i think.

  • I think that you have to do something special to make her love you everyday....it's not worth it. Even if you are happy now, which it doesn't seem like you are, you will most likely be unhappy that you wasted all this time on this girl who doesn't love you.

  • i think she does. i see it in her eyes when she looks at me. she just has a really hard time expressing these things. she's a little emotionally traumatized and scared of the weakness that comes with letting someone in, scared of being hurt because it has happened so many times before. I understand. affairs of the heart are always messy and this one is no different.

  • Well I can relate to her on that. If you really think that she loves you then I would keep holding onto her, even if it hurts. But remember if you truly love someone, sometimes you have to let them go.

  • you are right. all i really want for her is to be happy; to figure out whatever that is and do it. this isn't my first dance and i know that if i try to hold on to her because it makes me feel good, she'll feel objectified and just try to get away. right now it feels really good, keeps getting better in fact, but i've had that before and it always ended. we'll see what happens.

  • Well I think that is really nice. I didn't mean that you didn't know what to do of course, I'm actually in a bad relationship as well, but I hope she realizes that she is lucky.

  • in all my years and trials there is one thing i have learned: love isn't supposed to make you feel bad. if you're with someone and you're miserable, get out. the longer you stay for the wrong reasons the harder it will become. don't get me wrong; every couple has disagreements and any relationship takes work, but if you are in misery (listening to sad songs like this, perhaps, and crying) probably better to cut and run. you'll be better for it in the long run:)

  • Lol I don't even consider this a sad song! And I don't ever cry, but idk he's just got an addictive personality. We both have emotional issues so we have a lot in common and know how to handle each other, at least to some extent. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to leave him....

  • you're young. and from what i remember of my teenage years being 15 was difficult and confusing anyways. i believe that was the age i had a real girlfriend for the first time, first time i lost somebody. i wish i could tell you that it gets easier, but it doesn't.

  • Well I've already lost somebody, and from my experience in life, (and I have quite a bit for someone my age) the older you get the more you realize the consequences of everything that happens. Plus he's quite a bit older than me...

  • how is that spam?

  • THE SONG ABOUT HIS FATHER.

  • i sometimes have to cry when i'm listening to the goo goo dolls...

if i'd have to choose one, this would definitely be my favourite band .

  • And now we're grown up orphans That never knew their names We don't belong to no one

That's a shame you could hide beside me

Maybe for a while And I won't tell 'em your name

You grew up way too fast And now there's nothing to believe And reruns all become our history

I think about you all the time But I don't need the same If it's lonely where you are Come back down And I won't tell 'em your name

  • does anyone know what this song means?

  • The song portrays his life as a young orphan child. Most of the goo goo dolls songs deal with family issues. I usually listen to this song and think about people in my family that I love or want to love, it really helps me cry....

  • Personally I think it is about being Recognised or having a title...

  • I'm goo goo over the Goo Goo dolls :D

  • my baby is a little sentimental today and he told me to listen to this song, and I did even though it's 1am already lol now im reminded of how great this song is... love it!

  • wow were do you live if it is 1amd

  • I live in the land of the freezing, England :)

  • I love their first album, banana fried mega ultra chicken munching bitch. Such a classic album. It had at least 2 songs on it. The most I've seen on an album in a long time......

  • They came to my school with a teenage band from Buffalo called Agent ME. Yeah I didn't know they were from Buffalo so it was soooo shocking haha

  • i so wanna see GGD live so come to finland. :----)

or i'll come to america or england or where ever they are having a concert.

the best band in the entire world! :)

  • John is SIZZLIN'

    GGD Forever ;]

  • love this song? but what is the meaning?

  • I always thought it was very Wammy Class Reunion 2009 (or 2012, if you prefer). But I think one of the band members actually grew up in an orphanage.

  • Not exactly, John lost his parents both in the same year.

  • Beautiful, they dont make music or videos like this anymore, almost a full decade into the 21st century with nothin to say , and i dont think they ever will again.

  • This song was written in 2006, wasn't it?

  • more like 1996

  • Wasn't

  • I want this played at my funeral.

  • HAAHAHAHA you're down.

  • wouldn't say I'm down, just thoughtful. My wife knows of the song request.

  • i love this song but the sound quality on this video sucks...

  • goood song!

  • I love and love this song.

Am still trying to learn it!! :)

  • Dont it make you sad to know that life.. is more than who we are

  • WHORE!!!

  • WAT?

  • beautiful song (:

    i love it!

  • The song is nice to relax to. The band overall is just as great. I mean not a lot of people listen to alternative like this. Kudos those that love this band.

  • This album and super star car wash are great albums I rememeber buying this cd along with filters first cd and bush 16 stone

  • Rzenik is greater than "All" materia.

  • They're trolls guys. They don't have an actual opinion either way on the band, they just want attention.

I love this song. ^_^ This and Slide are my favorites from them...Goo Goo Dolls in general bring back some fantastic memories.

  • are you serious? one of the most MEMORABLE bands? really?!

  • So funny that people criticise goo goo dolls when they went to the bother of typing goo goo dolls into youtube just so when they get into the video they could criticise them, how sad is that.

  • haha true that. hey check out real by goo goo dolls on my profile when u get a chance.

  • everyone thinks this band sucks, alright first of all if "goo goo dools can suck your balls?" why the fuck are you even listening to it right now? 2nd, everyone doesn't like them. sorry they're not the gay jonas brothers, cuz apperently thats what most people like these days. if you dont like the goo goo dolls dont listen to them. they're too good for you anways.

  • I never thought i would see the day where the Jonas even get comapred to Goo Goo Dolls....I feel bad for the goo goo dolls, there feelings must be hurt!

  • dude, they were just jokin. Both bands are friends. The goo goo dolls actually posted that video on their website...

  • magnificent

  • Agreed!! Great song!!!

  • probably one of my favorite songs ever

  • No sweat man, i don't take it personal, because I'm sure half off these asswipes on youtube that make all the hating remarks are fucking chronic masterbaters, so they can give me minus six all they want. This video isn't that clear, the sounds is clearer on CD and radio.

  • i love goo goo dolls. alwayz have alwayz will xoxo

  • This is the one song I like by the Goo Goo Dolls.

  • you have to feel bad for him, orphaned at 15 taken in by his 4 older sister until graduation, then met one his first band mate robby who had a life twice as happy as john had every been.

  • great song!

  • beautiful!!!! :)
