one of the more powerful scenes of SPN,ie when Sam kills Madison at the end of "Heart" and Jo and Ellen die in "Abandon all hope"..such a great show,it can tug on the heartstrings and then a few episodes later Dean is a crotchety old man who can't handle a cheeseburger and make you laugh your ass off.

You know what though... this might be me, nitpicking on the details, but how could young Mary say that "it's too late?"

I mean, if she's pregnant with Dean, then she can still -choose- not to have Sam (to John's dismay of his wife not wanting to have sex with him ever again) and Sam wouldn't be cursed as being Lucy's (Lucifer's) host.

Although, that would mean no awesome story for us to enjoy. lol.

@rkmugen I think what they were trying to say is; She'd never leave John to being with, and now that they have a child together, the possibility of her ever choosing to leave the person she loves is below 0% now, especially now that she knows how much she'll love her children.

@BillyColin Yeah, but still.... seeing as how Sam -is- the problem child, Mary could've just had Dean...... and then stop there. She wouldn't have to leave John; so it would simply be her, John, and baby Dean... no Sam. No Sam means no "meat-suit" for Lucifer.

Also, if she said that "it's too late" and that she's pregnant with -SAM- (implying that baby Dean has already been born and is elsewhere).... then, in -that- situation, it really -is- too late.

@rkmugen Totally, but I think it's about choices because they could just have abortions if we're talking about ALL options, and I'm guess, it goes back to she "wouldn't" chose to do what "Best" over what she thinks is "right". So she'd keep the kids, and she already meant Sam so she "couldn't" not have him (is what I think the writers were trying to say, not that they did a great job of doing it in that scene)

@rkmugen But it's not that simple, she's already pregnant with Dean, and she's met the future Dean AND Sam, she knows her children, so how can she just give them up when she's seen all that, how would that be any different than basically "killing" her kids. And even killing Sam wouldn't solve the problem of no meat-suit because then it would have been another family, another set of brothers, because this was God's plan/destiny and the angels would have made it happen with or without them.

@BetaArtemis And even if there is no-meatsuit for Lucifer, Dean would still be Michael's vessel and that wouldn't change. So that would mean Mary would have to give up all her kids, and as the cupid once said, Mary and John's union were a big thing up in Heaven, this was planned since creation, even if she runs away from all that, who's the say the angels won't go back in time and change things so she'd still end up dead.
