  • Wow you've somehow uploaded 4 out of my 5 favorite Gaslight songs haha! Thank you so much!

  • all i can say is..i love it :))

  • i listen to music i dont try and box it in to silly genres much i mean you have your rock/ blues your rap/r&b but everything falls under the music category and sometimes songs wont fit into what an artist would normally play AND why can't gaslight make a bad song? is it impossible for them to or osmething i dont mind but damn i havent heard one i didnt liek

  • Does it really fucking matter what genre it is. It's damn good music. Jesus Christ if artists follow strict genre specifications then there music would be stale and un-original.

  • buena cancion, me podrian recomerdar canciones simelares

  • this band rocks my socks off,big time, rock on TOMMY!

  • I think these guys are a unique sound. Its sorta Modern 60s

    Mod60

  • im gonna make this quite clear...I WANT TO MARRY BRIAN FALLON!!!! BUT HE HAS A WIFE:(:(:((:

  • he's married to one of the Alex's sisters..forgot which one

  • good song gona b big

  • I like the song 'id call you woody joe'

    GREAT SONG

  • awesome i agree

  • perhaps at a time The Gaslight Anthem were punk rock. But no more; they have entered the wondederful world of Indie Rock! ^_^

  • xREITAx, I would definitely not call this pure indie rock. Gaslight has always had the punk-rock spirit in them, and though their music might not be punk in the sense of bands like Black Flag or Rancid, their songs definitely exude the spirit and DIY feel of punk. Plus theyre road-dogs, they tour a 1000 times more than any indie rock band could ever do, thats punk rock right there.

Punk rock isnt so much a genre of music as it is a spirit and integrity. So Fall out boy is def not punk rock.

  • Thats a great point. I didn't think of it that way. I change my mind. :D I agree with you, man! :)

  • Very well said :)

  • Not at all...hell, by that definition, several of social distortion's albums would be country or rockabilly, which they're not, they're cowpunk....still punk rock.

  • Lumberjackconnor, you should probably listen to a style of music before you compare this band to it so you have more then "is this fuck punk," to back up your claim.

  • Best album released this year by any artist IMO

  • This song is so ridiculously good. I know they're always associated with Against Me!, but I'd love to see these guys play with The Hold Steady. I bet they'd complement each other really well.

  • they totally blow the Hold steady away, IMO.

  • Im a fan of both the Hold Steady and Against Me! but I would love to see these guys tour with the National. To me these guys are almost a combo of The National and The Goodnight Loving.

  • I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my first wife.

  • I know so did i they were amazing.

  • i saw them at the rise against concert and i liked them more than Alkaline trio, and alkaline trio is one of my favs :) these guys are awesomeeee

  • I was there and I agree. I got a TGA shirt, not a AK3 shirt. :)

  • yea i saw these guys last week or something and they were real good. i went for alkaline trio but these guys were fuckin good.

  • Same here =) Rise Against was the best though!

  • fuck you dude. how is rise not origional? they've got a message and a dream why the hell are you trying to put them down? they're both good. have you even listened to rise against's stuff?

  • For that reason exactly. Pseudo-leftist pop punk isn't my thing. That whole pro-PETA message is a huge turn of as well. I listened to Rise Against back in the day, decent but nothing good. I'd say that they were trying to sound like Strike Anywhere way too much. As for the "message and a dream" Skrewdriver had a message and a dream. Doesn't make it any more acceptable or valid does it? Gaslight is amazing because of the stories they weave in the music. They aren't trying to be anything

  • I have to agree that Rise has gotten alot more mainstream, however the messages that they present through their music still show that they are incredibly grounded in what they believe, and they are still a very smart and original group of people. Tim is very articulate and I do not believe he does the things he does to please other people. He has grown up since his fuck the world days of Unraveling and RPM

But i do also agree Gaslight is a godly punk band worthy of a lot of success

  • dude, i went to a show with ra headlining and gaslight, thrice and alkaline trio opening. theyre were like 50 people trying to get me to sign up for a PETA email list, and yeah ra's gettin pretty bad, im still confused about the re-education video (anyone want to clue me in on the point?)

  • It's a foreshadowing. If the government continues to oppress the people, then rebellion and terrorism will occur, It's not about the US though......

  • Peta bread has a pocket to stuff your food in.

  • Peta bread only has one pocket to fill whatever you like in it

  • I totally agree with you man....These guys blow Rise out of the water....Bring on the angry messages

  • agh cant wait to see these guys along with thrice and rise against.

    so pumped.

  • i just saw them last night, it was crazy

  • yeah, he's referencing the Charles's Dickens book about the youth who can't ever get Estella to love him

  • NOVEMBER 24th, MADHATTER, COVINGTON KENTUCKY. theyre returning apologizing for canceling the show in september. Best part, no headliners, all request. Greatest night ever?

  • <3<3

  • Cant beleive the people in the US get to see these guys with Thrice, wow, thats some amazing tour, two of my very favorite bands right now.

So unfortunate that such a tour could never happen in Europe. The alternative magazines like Kerrang and Rock Sound are just too obsessed with ridiculous bands like Fall out boy and Avenged Sevenfold to care about these guys :(.

Anyways, great song by an awesome band.

  • Actually, Kerrang said they were the best new band that you'd hear this year. The band were the first ever band to be featured on the front cover (as in their picture in big on the front) as their first time ever even mentioned in the magazine - so they're starting to get the recognition they deserve.

  • shelsby, Kerrang is a really terrible magazine regardless of that in my opinion. They support a select few bands and refuse to even acknowledge the existence of others. In the roster of bands they unconditionally support include Fall out boy,Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold,Metallica,Gallows and Bullet for my valentine.Gaslight Anthem doesnt sit well alongside such pretentious and horribly generic acts. Kerrang does not even know and acknowledge the existence of innovative acts like Thrice and Isis.

  • Hmmm touchée. But I never said Kerrang was a good magazine (despite the fact I loved it when I was like 14/15 lol). But anyway, I was just saying because you said "The alternative magazines like Kerrang and Rock Sound are just too obsessed with ridiculous bands like Fall out boy and Avenged Sevenfold to care about these guys :("

Don't get me wrong, I don't read Kerrang, I just happened to hear about it because I know someone who's obsessed with the band.

  • and kerrang were spot on (y)

  • kerrang put the gaslight anthem on the front cover of their magazine and they had never previoulsy written anything about them, so that is to their deffence however you are right they do put too much shit in the magazine

  • is the title inspired by Charles Dickens' book or the 1947 film?

Seems to be that way for some reason but then he talks about 1962? Maybe the title was chosen randomly then

  • I don't think it's Dickens, they appreciate the old days but I doubt it's that. The movie, I don't know, maybe. :) Let me know if you find out

  • Love the song. Actually the song is referencing Charles Dicken's book Great Expectations. In the line "I never had a good time, I sat by my bedside with papers and poetry about Estella." He is talking about Estella Havisham who was a character in Great Expectations.

  • @aic6702 I think there is definitely a conscious effort to mention the Dickens novel. Even the line about "reading papers and poetry about Estella" mentions a character from the story. Not to mention, the idea of everybody leaving, "I'd expect this much from you" is very much an idea of someone who has taken Pip's tale as cautionary.

Then again, this may just be a former English major talking. :-p

  • @aic6702 i read something about how the 59 sound was from his pops guitar amp and how he remembers that old sound when he was a kid. regardless its an amazing song by an amazing band

  • @Grimeyhoob I think that you do not even remember posting this comment, but i thought the exact same thing. Later, he sings that he was dreaming about estella, who is also someone from the book of Charles Dickens. I don't think that they try to tell that story, but there are definitely some aspects of the book in this song.

  • wow. great track - defnately need to get that album

  • i love love love love love love love love this song!

  • for me this is the best track of that new album... enjoy!
