Yeah, I've gotten these guys ringing me in Australia. I just strung them along for twenty minutes discussing about how they are able to access my PC and then I asked whether they could connect to my computer, which they said they were reading the malicious files- I told them that I had disconnected the computer from the internet via. its ethernet port and they went ballistic.

They did the same to me, count the errors. If they are going to scam, they could at least ask you to filter the errors :) I heard they install "ransom software", which stops programs running, except your browser. So to get your PC back you have to pay, unless you reinstall Windows. So you risk losing data unless you back it up.

I was getting tired of their calls so the last time I just said I was just a friend visiting and that the actual resident wasn't available. You'd think they'd say "OK we'll call back" or something like that but NO...they actually tried to convince me to go into my " friend's" computer because it was so urgent that it couldn't wait until my friend returned! These people have no boundaries.

I just told him I was a technician right away and then he said "I know you are...you know a lot about computers right?" just like he said to you...I'm not a technician, but I know enough..then he got mad that I even suggested it was a scam.. He pauses in his response,then says "one moment". The moment lasts for just about a minuite,then the line "misteriously" became disconnected.
