Anybody know if Lee Hazlewood was part Native American? He was born in Oklahoma, so it's not that unlikely that some of his ancestors could have been Cherokee or Choctaw.
it's easy to dismiss his stuff as kitsch with stupid lyrics, but really if you listen properly it's more poetic and melodic than pretty much anything released now
"no talent Lee Hazelnuts." Don't ya just hate commentary on the "uninformed". Lee wrote several songs that are STILL played on radio. Hits included "These Boots Are Made for Walkin", "Summer Wine", "Sugar Town", "How Does That Grab Ya, Darlin'", "Friday's Child", "So Long, Babe, & "Jackson"(Johnny Cash).

I like him better with Nancy Sinatra. "She said no but I didn'thearher.." and Siw's eyes are saying "YES !" Not that I blame her.

@mmasny it surely looks that way. Too much smoking, too. But I love the song.

There is certainly a touch of early Leonard Cohen to Lee. Those strange cowboy laments.

His music was corny, schmaltzy and sentimental...and I've loved it for nearly 40 years. Got my 13 and 9 year-olds hooked now. Ha Ha!
