Huge fan of Geroge Benson! He is swingin mad hard on this one!! His style is all his own and he kills it here like always. If you all enjoyed this one, check out my live version of this tune and many other jazz standards with my quartet on my youtube channel!
I was hoping if someone could point out some albums where he plays the guitar exclusively, because I only own a few of his singing albums, which are great but are not much of a study ground of his playing style...
Check out "Uptown" with George Benson and the greatest Benson album of all time undoubtedly is "THE COOKBOOK" dig the cook book if you want to hear this cat play in prime time with Dr. Lonnie Smith in the late sixties. This stuff is kinda weak its Benson just melt the mainframe over electronic drums and electric bass.
@Lukasoncapeta I've only got "Giblet Gravy", it's with an orchestra and latin percs, Herbie Hancock and Ron Carter, the album definitely has killer riffs, check it out!
I actually preferred the tone George had in the early 60's and 70's. Listen to him playing a Gibson on the albums Body Talk and the CTI gem Take Five. Much better tone on both of those to my ears.
simple answer is get that guitar. my guitar teacher has a similar ibanez hollow body which has the same tone. i dont know any pedals or amps that can imitate the sound of a hollow body.
Actually, he's using a Gibson or a Guild which he played during this time period (1973). The Ibanez did not come until much later. I prefer this tone over the Ibanez any day. This 2 record album was originally released as "Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon". My favorite on this record was Witchcraft. This is the Benson I prefer to hear and some of his best playing, but he was struggling in those days. But ultimately, the sound is in his hands. Doesn't play much of this stuff these days. Still love him
This is a great album. I seem to recall Witchcraft also being my favourite. Actually I bought this album about four times in various different configurations about ten years ago just to make sure I had all the tracks from the date. Another of the key albums that taught me how to play guitar, and one I haven't listened to for too long.
yeah, ibanez archtops are pretty cheap too, check out a store or online. i have a semi hollowbody ibanez and its perfect for jazz and blues, but also good for rock and stuff
i think its great. youtube is a GREAT way to listen to music when you are looking at the internet. you can listen to lots of stuff you never heard before because so many people upload full albums of songs.
I disrespectfully disagree. its not usually hard to tell if its a picture of a video. if the still is a genuine great shot its usually a picture. it also depends on the time period of the song. some simply were not likely to be video. alsoKHermstad is right about the music on youtube, even though a torrent is almost always better some people have a moral dilemma about actual downloading.

George is a class act to say the least. Always at the top of his game.

The pianist is Mickey Tucker. He 's been living in Australia for over twenty years and had to stop playing due to an accident many years ago.

I think it's lame that folks post songs over a photo, on a video website.
