this album was raw and real.......i like alot of their stuff but for me one hot minute is honest and edgy......epic long songs telling stories from experiences, lifes journeys captured in music...not poppy shit that sells...
I usually state this as one of the most underrated albums of all time. Everybody gives it so much shit because Frusciante is not on it. Hillel was the original guitarist, and he was the best pepper guitarist in my opinion. Dave was just a perfect fit for the band. This album is fucking dark, depressing, mystical, deep, and just one of the few albums i can say mean something to me. Blood Sugar might be my favorite album of all time, but this album means more to me personally.
I never listen to this album, but its special and when I do listen to it I tend to think its the best and most creative one. Giveing it all up to the beauty of a mystery ;)
Honestly guys, Navarro is great and all, and One hot minute is a great album, but Frusciante just kinda seemed to fit more than Navarro. I'm not hating on Navarro or OHM, though, don't get me wrong. Also, Anthony just said shit in the video. epic.
That's the only downfall to this album; Navarro recorded so many parts and overdubs, that it couldn't possibly sound even close to the recording when played live. Such a killer song though. Navarro > Frusciante. Period.
not a chance. frusciantes a musical genius. however OHM was a sick album, but you honestly cannot say that navarro was better than frusciante. in fact you cannot say that a musician is "better" or "greater" or ">" than another...
You are so right, honestly fuck the critics, one hot minute was their peak and their live performances were off the fucking hook during that time. Chili peppers 90-97 ftw!
Awesome. I remember going to one of the shows on the O.H.M. Tour and they played this song last. There were thousands of ballons that came down the roof toward the end of the song. Was pretty cool looking.
If you listen to the studio version of this song, there are so many dubs that it would be impossible to play live and have it sound the same. Still one of my fav songs ever though.
the intro talks about anthoy's trips to skiing with his friends as youngsters, they slept in a laundry, steal skiing equiptment and got high.

I believe this is the best chilis album after blood sugar, I personally love the dark and intense feeling Dave gave it. Very sad album for me.

One Hot Minute isn't that bad, it's just a big step down from BSSM. The worst bit about it is Anthony's lyrics, they're just embarrassing.
johann99 2 years ago
who do they embarrass? not me, not him, i love his lyrics
warped is deliciosuly expressive , and these (deep kick) lyrics are awesome

All I know is Dave and RHCP never truly seemed to click. Its not really a question of whos better, just an issue of chemistry
ExarKun100 2 years ago 12
To you maybe but to people that enjoyed this album they clicked well and most the people talking crap about Dave cant elaborate like yourself.

John is the best guitarplayer they have in the years he was and is by the chili peppers.
Dave Navaro Stays there al of the time and he doesn't swing on that wonderfull music.
Navaro is very good on guitar but not on stage.
