hence its significant from the point of view of deep space exploration. as far as GSLV is concerned, its was the first launch which failed, but after that GSLV was a success.GSLV Mk.I(b)put 2160 kg of payload in Geo-stationary Transfer Orbit in sep 2007.GSLV-III is the next and is cheduled to be launced somtim by end of this year or by begining of next year and will be capable of lifting heavy payloads(spacecrafts). So it won't be true if u say that GSLV is a failure.

Its can put upto 20,000 kg to LEO and 10,000 kg to GTO ! Thats going to get rid of Indian dependency on Ariane 5!!!!!!!!!

I thing that ISRO chose PSLV over GSLV for this particular launch can be understood because of the success rate of PSLV but GSLV could have directly taken it to moon!
