Just 2 short years ago there was a very large popular citizen's movement protesting the quasi-military coup deposing President Zelaya on behalf of the corporate & oligarchic interests who were opposed to the reforms he introduced that would have vastly increased the nation's democratization & the citizenry's shareholder stake in society. Tragically, US betrayed the citizens by backing Lobos' corrupt political & economic regime, losing the best chance Honduras had to right historic inequalities.

I used to live there with my maternal grandmother before I migrated to the U.S. to join my parents. There wasn't very much talk of drugs then but much has changed in my country. It has 2 cities in the top ten cities in the world with the most homicides. It is a shame that our closest powerful neighbor chooses to spend billions on killing innocent people in the Middle East than to save them on their own continent when it is their fault the drug trafficking business is so big to begin with.
