  • 1:30 always blow my mind

  • Hands down to the best intro in video game history.

  • (continued, thumbs up if you agree on both my comments so everyone can see)

Just imagine playing as a samurai warlord and fighting an ever expanding Roman empire.

OR being in command of the indian kingdom that brought alexander the great's army to its knees at the battle of Hydaspes? OR playing as the etruscans or one of the latin or sabine cities and battling Rome for control of Italy?!

Or hell even playing as Epirus and fighting greece and macedon for control of Greece!

    Thumbs up if u agree.

  • Okay here is what I want for Rome 2 total war.

I want a game where U can select the year and empire u want to be, ex: 3,000 BC and ur the Sumerians or ancient egyptians.

Then as the game moves on u see other nations "emerge" ex: 1,500 BC Mycenaeans emerge, etc.

    OR

I can select the year 1,500 BC and play as the Mycenaeans or 500 BC and play as the Babylonians or chinese.

I want HISTORICAL accuracy and accurate units.

I want to play as Alexander the great and conquer china!

    Thumbs up if u agree.

  • Rome Total War has the best time period, but I preferred Shogun Total War and Medieval Total War gameplay over Rome.

  • is this song made for rome total war only? what's the name of the song?

  • i play this song when im playing minecraft

  • I dont give a shit if the Rome 2 is just this but reskinned with better graphics. I want Rome 2!!!!

  • wish they will make ROME 2 or something like that

I still think rome is the best of the series!

  • @Kill4Dill that would be awesome

  • A siege is a military blockade of a city or fortress with the intent of conquering by attrition or assault. The term derives from sedere, Latin for "to sit". Generally speaking, siege warfare is a form of constant, low intensity conflict characterized by one party holding a strong, static defensive position. Consequently, an opportunity for negotiation between combatants is not uncommon, as proximity and fluctuating advantage can encourage diplomacy.

  • A siege occurs when an attacker encounters a city or fortress that cannot be easily taken by a coup de main and refuses to surrender. Sieges involve surrounding the target and blocking the reinforcement or escape of troops or provision of supplies (a tactic known as "investment"), typically coupled with attempts to reduce the fortifications by means of siege engines, artillery bombardment, mining (also known as sapping), or the use of deception or treachery to bypass defences.

  • Failing a military outcome, sieges can often be decided by starvation, thirst or disease, which can afflict either the attacker or defender.

  • Sieges probably predate the development of cities as large population centres. Ancient cities in the Middle East show archaeological evidence of having had fortified city walls. During the Warring States era of ancient China, there is both textual and archaeological evidence of prolonged sieges and siege machinery used against the defenders of city walls.

  • Siege machinery was also a tradition of the ancient Greco-Roman world. During the Renaissance and the Early Modern period, siege warfare dominated the conduct of war in Europe. Leonardo da Vinci gained as much of his renown from the design of fortifications as from his artwork.

  • Medieval campaigns were generally designed around a succession of sieges. In the Napoleonic era, increasing use of ever more powerful cannon reduced the value of fortifications. In the 20th century, the significance of the classical siege declined. With the advent of mobile warfare, a single fortified stronghold is no longer as decisive as it once was.

  • While traditional sieges do still occur, they are not as common as they once were due to changes in modes of battle, principally the ease by which huge volumes of destructive power can be directed onto a static target. Modern sieges are more commonly the result of smaller hostage, militant, or extreme resisting-arrest situations such as the Waco Siege.

  • @HarryDober

can i use this video in a video explaining some the best mods? reply to this if not

  • 1:30 FOR ROHAN!!!

  • the Seleucids are Greeks + Persians mixed together

2 great empires made into the strongest faction

  • Doesn't this remind anyone of the battle of minus tirith and pelloner fields from lord of the rings

  • @mina319 No.

  • @mina319 my thoughts exactly

  • I remember my brother doing an ambush mission, the onagers fired straight over the field and insta-killed his top commander.

  • That intro was rape.

  • I watched this at my friend's house completely stoned. Tears came to my eyes it was so epic

  • lol at 1:51 the onager destroys its own siege tower

  • @SSghost31 LOL fail

  • @SSghost31 I think they were the Julii catapults

  • any1 no if its possible 2 change the intro?

  • The devs of this game are great, love that the intro is a roman version of Battle of the Pelennor Fields

  • @trayusacademy euh, thats Carthage

  • 1:21 GrooveStreet VS Ballas xD

  • @ZaZaxLT hahahahah xDDD

  • the best total war game

    awesome atmosphere

  • Holy shit right at 1:57!

  • what's the name of this song at the beginning?

  • They re-made Shogun...now is it time to remake Rome Total war??

  • Comment removed

  • @yammer123 grow up

  • RTW was the best Total War! Since the Total War series works with Steam I don´t buy it any more! I want to OWN a game. Since Steam is the platform for much games I don´t play computer games any more.

  • @Kardanwelle1994 I don't really understand this attitude, Steam is by far and away the best PC gaming platform/DRM. I'd much rather have Steam than the DRM that other studios put in their games - Steam allows you to play the same game on multiple PCs with no need for discs, you can chat with friends in-game and easily find multiplayer matches, Steam automatically patches your games, the Steam store is an easy (if not cheap) way to get new games... I don't see what's so bad about it!

  • @ScourgeOfGodUK The only thing that worries me when I choose to buy on steam is what would happen if steam went bankrupcy or something like that. I mean, would all the games be lost? Because I bought a lot of games :S

  • @Kaede5 True, that might be a legitimate concern, but since Valve has made its founder Gabe Newell a billionaire, I doubt it'll go bankrupt anytime soon! If Valve ever did enter into financial trouble, you can bet your bottom dollar that a slew of companies would be lining up to buy it. Furthermore, it would not take much to get the games you've d/l'ed working without Steam. So I'm sure that, in the scheme of things, your data is safe.

  • @ScourgeOfGodUK Well, if that's the case, there's no need to worry about anything and I'll continue buying there xD Thanks

  • @runescapenerd12345 No problem!

  • Does anyone know if it possible to play this battle at all (as in if it's in the game files somewhere or theres a way to make a battle similar to that) as in scenario you can't dictate where armies set up if your not controlling them, and you cant deploy troops outside of the city if your the defender

  • @TRUExSIGHTS Yes I know for 100% sure that these battle's are playable since I did it myself also..

Long time I've played this game , but I know it's in one of the prepared game maps..

  • @Larszz Can you remember how to find it? I've looked under historical and custom battles but can't seem to find it.... unless im missing it completely

  • @TRUExSIGHTS I'll install Rome Total War today and I'll pm u tomorrow with an answer ;) Let me know if you've find it already.

  • @runescapenerd12345 Journey to Rome part 1 and 2, then the fighting theme is Melee Cafe.

  • i hope they make rome total war 2

  • 1:33 is fucking epic

  • 1:46 is when the awesome truly starts :D

  • IT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!! The best intro EVER!

  • @Minental indeed, this really is the best intro movie of ANY of their games! :D

  • I recall when I first got this game, I wanted to make battles THAT eppic and that large scale, of course I couldn't, if I did it be running at max 5 frames a second or something. virtually unplayable. Now that I got another 4870 coming in and gonna run in crossfire over-clocked I wonder if I could live my dream of a perfect huge scale war with a smooth FPS

  • @Sypran get a good cpu lolol

  • @goodfty I have a good Cpu now. (phenom II 965) Recall this game came out in 2004? and back then I had a some pretty dated custom computer. I think I had a Pentium 4 i think running 2.2ghz? and Idr what the graphics card was but it was a budget card that came out around 2002? maybe 2003. This game now runs perfectly the way i like it.

  • listen to this while playing a swordfighting game theres nothing better

  • EPIC... :D

especially on the Horse & Elephant Charge parts...

  • ONE OF THE BEST RTS I EVER PLAYED!

  • There can be no peace! No peace with Romans! Men of stone and iron and LIES! There can only be WAR!!

  • o m g i miss so much this game!!!! in my opinion this one is the best of all the times!!!!!!!

  • @bruno3789 your right its awsome

  • YUP

  • this almost seems like a rip off of the lord of the rings movie the roman forces defend the city (minas tirith) and the army of a fellow roman (rohan) brings a million horses and THEN the enemy brings in a bunch of elephants (oliphants) to fight the horses... next they you know there will be trolls assalting the front door an- wait... an elephant already did? well thats close enough!!!

  • @Droidek74415 they should have put berserkers instead on those elephants... they will fit the "troll" role sooo goood hahaha XD

  • anyone know where to dl this? cuz I wanna use it as my screensaver

  • How do I skip this intro whenever I go to play R:TW? I haven't figured out a way

  • I haven't played this game in a while but i still remember how epic this was

  • 1.30 EPIC!!

  • in the into rome is beaten in the game rome owns cartage

  • @SuperCavaro and so too in real life :)

  • wow... the game is actually is not as epic as the movie shows...

  • @GravityCurrents probably cuz you're playing on easy/easy with normal unit sizes

  • god when the elephant at end comes in is sounds so scary! but oh well FOUNDER VS FOUNDER BATTLES KICK ASS!

  • Do you noticed how much this siege is similar to Battle of Minas Tirith?

  • @biniu100 it was the studios tribute to LOTR

  • hey how do u skip the intro in the begining

  • @coriii1395 you skip the intro by pressing escape in the top left corner or esc

  • the end is so funny when the elephants burst in the romans are like holy ****

  • Strike up the drum and march courageously

  • best game ever

  • i've got some problems with the game...when i run it, the intro doesn't show and if a faction gets destroyed or i catch a wonder, the screen turns black and afterwards an erorr rhingy pops up. How do i fix it? It used to work.

  • your computer clearly has a problem, this is not a bug. You need to go on craigslist, buy a used cpu, have a pro look at it before you buy it clearly, than take the deal. Always make sure to have a pro check it first.

  • @yammer123 actually, i just had to reinstall windows media player XD

  • isnt it funny to think that with divorces today through the roof IT IS AN EDUCATED GUESS TO SAY THAT ROMANS WERE BETTER AT PASSING DOWN THEIR GOLD AND RICHES TO THEIR BLOOD LINE AS OPPOSED TO NOW WITH ALL THE LEGALITIES WITH SPLITTING IN FAMILIES..

  • they need to make this game with modern day graphics, now that will be epic..

  • @yammer123 No... They need to make multiplayer campaign map in RTW. Patch or something. :P I would love that! Well i love this game anyway but that would be... Enormous!

  • my fav: parthia, carthage, armenia, julii, scythia

  • @AbbasGirl17 Macedon, Greek City States, Julii, Carthage, and Seleucid. Seleucids i'll admit are so rigged in custom battle. They have like 1 unit from each empire and culture.

  • I like the Mafia edge that the campaign explores: out-doing the other 'families'.

  • Greeks r tha best in tha game by ma opiion

  • Greeks are great for city defense. If you lose a city as the greeks you're a retard because the phalanx's make it almost impossible for a huge army to get in at once.,

  • super znaczy cool

  • the seleucids are the best!

  • everybody ROX

  • and in history they got conquered the easiest:))

  • @trayusacademy The Seleucids are cool, but in my opinion, I think the Greeks are pretty awesome.

  • @hankock1015 yes, greeks have the most powerful unit rome, but the seleucids have elephants, heavy cavalry, hoplites and legions, and some weak archers units .... i say they are just the best :D

  • @trayusacademy true, rue. tha have elephants, cataphracts, companions, chariots. tha have a good cav component.

  • nice video im getting the game so i hope i see you online fighting me i had lots of time to play this game so i can beat any body with the spartans

  • Not everybody, lol no offence but you probably wouldnt last with ppl like ier of carthage or prince of macedon (prince of macedon especailly). 0_o

  • They should make a new rome tw, called Rome tw: Julius Caesar. And make his historical battles against gauls, and his own campaign back then, with Cleopatra and Brutus, civil war and assassination, pompey and Mark Anthony and stuff like that. Now that would be awesomeness

  • There are severals mods to play historicals battles...like Hannibals Italien-Offensive

  • Da best strategy game...

  • This is nothing like Civilization Revolution.

  • Lmfao my history teacher actually used this game to talk about how the roman empire fell and the battles they fought in.

  • lol.

  • I wish my teacher was that cool we got such a laymans term for how they collapsed it almost made me cry she said the roman empire collapsed because of angry men and barbarians and that was it

  • oh my teacher told us like 6 or 7 different reason why roman empire fell.

  • @Darksamurai1501 Someone wrote a whole book on it; "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" by Edward Gibbon.

  • @Demonwulf

Fun Fact: the book is a historical event in Empire Total War :D

  • Hah. I need to get that game.

  • Stormwern, there is a LOTR:TW for the RTW expansion Alexander, and there is a TA:TW mod for the M2 expansion Kingdoms. Sure there is a Middle-earth: Total War.

  • Is this sorta like Civilization Revolution?

  • Nothing like seizing Rome and eliminating the other two families...good times, good times...

  • how i can get stairs?

  • I've been asking myself the last five years, why is noone making Middle Earth: Total War. Imagine this with trolls, ents, baelrogs, mûmakil etc, too awesome for words.

  • they have a mod for it.....

  • ....there is a mod for it XD lol dude....

  • Awesome game. I'm addicted.

  • hahaa me too dude

  • Really, every time you play it it's like a different game. It's amazing!

  • jeayyyaaa!!!!

  • the music in this intro is simply awesome. try listening to it a bit louder(if u have a good soundsystem even better) and the hair on your arms will stand up. it just simply makes you wanna go to war and chop someones head of.

  • @rzaracheta Absolutely agree! Amazing music!

  • @rzaracheta prefably obama's head

  • @yammer123 Idiot.

This brings back a lot of memories! Ah, the gaming days.

  • @rzaracheta good pnt

  • @rzaracheta lol yeah!

  • not really shorts, they march in tunics, which are skirt kind of things, and they had loads of heavy armour on anyway

  • that's true :)

  • lord of the rings takes off this .... this is real shit no elfs here lol

  • what year did return of the king come out. cause rome came out 04

  • elephants are cool

  • i got the gold edition and when i try to instail it an error comes up with:

    feature transfer error

    feature: barbarian invasion data

    Component: BI

    File: D:/data2.cab

    error: incorrect function

please help me i realy want to play

  • hmm why dont you try getting rtw anthology? shouldnt be too expensive and you get bi and alexander with it

  • try to update the latest DirectX version

  • just as epic as battle for minas tirith..... ah! know i see why lol

  • Great intro.. Just mighty! xD

  • please tell me this is the original, not alexander or barbarian invasion....

  • Yes, this is the original intro.

  • What difference does this make? Anyway if you look at the intro you can instantly tell what civilizations are shown and from there can determine whether this is one of the expansions or the original version.

  • i have the sound track, and play the mighty charthagians,

  • in my opinoun this video game has the best intro video of all video games /what ever you call these into videos

  • I liked the intro to the first medieval total war game =)

  • one of the best into to war game

  • right ok i have almost completed it al the factions are destroyed and their is only the romans left i want to attack them but i cant because of civil revolt how can i calm these down

  • u cant

  • try letting them revolt and take the city over but reruit some good units before

and when the city revolts besiege it and

slaughter the slaves and exterminate the city

it worked for me hope this helped

  • what is realisim mod? what it do?

  • Rome Total Realism is an amazing mod for the game, it makes everything much more realistic, it increases the size of the campaign map incredibley, dozens of new settlements are added. The one setback is, it's much harder than the regular RTW, buildings take longer, and so do units, it's more realistc.

  • You can use a screen recorder. Idk if they're free or not.

I'm pretty sure you can't get it in a powerpoint. Try a CD or something. That's your best bet right there.

    Hope that helps.

  • give me the site for me to download the mod

  • Check out the Rome Total Realism mod..Once installed & Played you'll never go back to the original. :)

  • Good mod, but I think Europa Barbarum is the best!

  • I haven't tried that one but I've heard good things bout it.

Just imagine what the RTR and EB crews can do with the new Total War game :-)

  • youre right, but its a time factor. Ive been reading the EB boards, and they are currently working on EB2 using the Medievel 2 engine. Projected release date is sometime early 2010... bumber

  • O.G.W.P.Old Game Worth Playing;)

  • 2004 really isn't that old.

  • @brwhizz in the video game world its a long long time ago when things werent as good looking lol

  • @brwhizz NOW IT IS = /

  • i got a question, someone plz answer.

ok, so, i use the julii, and i was able to conquer about half of the known world (the things in the map) but the settlements keep revolting! it seems that the distance to the capital is the problem. what can i do to make all of my settlements happy and at the same time conquer all?

  • I seriously CANNOT WAIT to get this game! I plan to get it as soon as I get my new Dell XPS M1710 in a few weeks time!! =D

  • when you do you should get online.

  • yeah dude, i plan too. i take that its good online?

  • well its free and if you cant get online read my friend "the prince of macedon" acount to help. its more thrilling than playing the A.I. all the time supposedly

  • thanks for the advice, i'll be sure to take it! ^_^
