Alan Dargin lived in Nita st In a small Town called Toronto, NSW. he lived 2 doors from me so he was a neighbour and more-so a good friend. I will never forget the tall colourful stories he would tell while we were baking raw potatoes in our campfire next to our makeshift cubby house behing his parents house and mine. Make no mistake, this guy was one in a million and an inspiration too many. From housing commision to world fame. Good on ya mate, will never forget you buddy. R.I.P
Im in shock !!! I had no idea he has passed on im trembling with tears flowing as i write this , I was inspired by this wonderful / amazing and talented player !!! I am now a player performer too and had learned alot from him though i never had the chance to meet him . We lose another Great !!! Hard to find another one that even comes close .. Rest in peace Brother !!
i had the chance to get to know this deadly braus...he is an incredible didjeridoo player and taught me to circular breath in under an hour...THE BEST ever in my opinion
Oh Alan! My first didge teacher! You will be missed! I'll blow didge for you for the next several days. May you be peaceful and happy in the Dreamtime!
The species of Bloodwood used in the making of this didjeridu (yidaki) by Alan's grandfather seems to have become extinct. Alan's instrument was indeed made over 100 years ago. Unfortunately it was stolen several years ago and may have been taken out of Australia. This is a huge loss to Alan and Indigenous heritage in general. If any one knows of its whereabouts, please let Alan know.
dij is not a 100year old instrument!!! WTF! it figures into the Aboriginal Mythology from their Creation Story!!! and that is older than 100 years!! maybe that guy meant that the instrument that alan plays is 100y.o.?
