  • i love this song!!

  • wow... quite a developed 12 year old.... and what amazing technique and sound for only 6 months of playing... must have an amazing teacher!

  • can you tell max his ligature is on backwards?

  • can someone tell elboberto7 it's an inverted ligature?

  • Look for Max on the next Jerry Lewis Telethon, Labor Day Weekend, with the Arizona RoadRunners. Max is now 15 years old.

  • i played flute 4 1 yr and bout to play sax(alto)

  • hey there i think you did a great job and i also play the saxophone (alto) and good luck to u.

  • it takes at least a year to master sax that well, unless you played a woodwind before i guess , very good none the less

  • nice stuff..but six months is a big lie..

  • damn!that sax is RAW!!!and damn..that was sexy...

  • Very Good!!!

  • very very gooooood !!!! congratulation !!!

  • Don't know if it went through last time - 6 years of piano, no sax lessons. Now he has 2 years of sax. Check out our latest video at China Rose.

  • Did max have any previous musical experience prior to learning the sax? coz if he did, that would explain this. if he just learned everything about music on day one of picking up the sax and he did this... he's a genius! I've played guitar for 3 years, flute for one, tenor sax for 3 weeks, and this is as good, if not better, than all i've got on my 3 instruments combined. PS: I don't just suck, it's just that I taught myself to play each instrument without any professional help.

  • This is good for six months, and he has a tallent, I play the alto saxophone, and I might be switching to the soprano, but tell him to get into the feeling, and not be afraid, anyway, he has a great tone! Good for him! : D

  • good job just needs more feeling

  • u no, i could do that to after 6 months... and i can play a crazy region peice meant 4 high school. so wat now?

  • search "arizona jazz academy" and click on the first video.. max is the first solo on alto... see how good he is now

  • there is no way this kid is 12. i'm 12 and this is my 3rd year play that sax ,alto and bari, and there is no way this kid got this good in 6 months

  • 6 months? yeah right.

  • I'm gonna have to agree, maybe Soprano Sax for 6 Months... but no way you JUST picked up a saxaphone, and were pulling off that song.

  • there is no way this kid as been playin for only 6 months...its insane

  • The song is called it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. He's incredible and really cute. (:

  • lol you said it i'd like him to play it for me til i fell asleep its so calming

  • nice whats the name of this song

  • that was hot

  • Anyone know what mouthpiece he uses, sounds really great!

  • 6 months?! he super talented. u learn fast! and u seem to be well financially ...

  • What's your mouthpiece/reed setup bro?

  • have i can play like you

  • Yo, Im so fucking jealous of you, you have such a kick ass sound, I wish the 17 years olds in marching band had as good a tone as you let alone just them playing altos' it takes a gift to play soprano, One which I've been gifted with =p

  • Hey Max, I too have been playing for 6 months but started at age 60. You are ahead of me, that's for sure. I'm an OK blues soloist and am working on more complex stuff. Nice work!

  • Nice man...i asked to switch from bari to saprano but my band teacher said...well one of them said...he HATES them and says they're to squeaky but by the way you play...i totally disagree...sorry Mr. Thomas

  • dude hell yeah. 6 months and you're sounding like that? that's incredible. especially on the misery stick. It took me forever to find a good set up for my soprano. Keep with it man because you've got chops

  • wow jeez ur awesome i play soprano and tenor (could u send me the name Of the cd ur palying to) thanks a lot

  • Have you really been playing for 6 months because this is really good if you have.

  • Nice playing! i play alto i just started a year ago.

  • there is no point in restating everything that everyone else has already said, so i won't. work on keeping your fingers close to the pearls. The closer your fingers are to the pearls the less they have to move to get out the next pitch, thus increasing your ability to play faster and with more accuracy. You can always tell the masters from the novices without even hearing them by looking at their finger posture. YOU ARE AMAZING keep up the good work =)

  • I learned that a while ago, but I guess I forgot. Thanks for your help.

  • yeah, its a hard thing to put into practice, because you've learned it as a habitit (which pretty much all saxes do in the beginning) the trick is RELEARNING it, its very hard and took me a LONG time to do, and everyonce in while my fingers still stick out. It's the next step to greatness, and are you ver going to be great!

  • Not bad, kid. Just remember that what's going to help make you the best is playing like you mean it. Use the lows and the highs and work on controlling the high register. Though, amazing for someone who's been playing for 6 months.. I wish my music teachers would've pushed me to be that good in that amount of time.

  • I agree it is not my best playing. I should move around and give off the swing vibe a little more. I might redo this video.

  • thats amazing

  • What scales and patterns are you using in those runs???

  • I'm mostly using the G minor blues scale and the G harmonic minor scale. There are C7, F7, Bb7, and Eb major 7 chords in the song, so I use any scales appropriate in those chords.

  • What did he play before soprano?

  • Piano and Trombone. Soprano was a birthday gift in June '06. Don't forget the other videos. Thanks.

  • Hey max it's Henry from victoria (piano player). Ella phoned me during christmas to ask if we could jam but i was in mexico. Just wondering if you'll be in Victoria any time soon. By the way, best sax i've heard from anyone below the age of 18. Let alone someone who's been playing for 6 months.

  • how much did u pay for yo sax

  • This is a used EM Winston soprano sax which cost about $550. He makes it sound like it cost more. Look at the other videos of him playing live.
