Turbodiesels are not meant to be supe-up for the simple fact that they smoke alot because of the diesel gas and this vid just shows why. Not saying that they can't go fast just that it's not recommended because diesel is more used for torque rather than horsepower. They are great motors and are design to last up to 500k plus miles or more, that's twice more than your avg honda. Rest asure that before it blows up it will have mad blowby because that's what turbo diesels tend to due after a while.

@scratchyrice You are right about the boost pressure the higher you go the more fuel you will want in order to be in conjuction with each other and in to prevent detonation at higher boost levels . However that still leaves out the fact that tuning a turbo diesel can be down right difficult especially if you are trying to get more power out of it. If you plan on staying below 5k rpm than maybe that's the way to go, but remember if you do that you are sacraficing your top end hp.

A diesel will happily run super-lean all day long, and the power from a diesel comes in between 1500rpm and 5000rpm, theres never any need to go above 5000 rpm with a diesel. On modern turbo diesels a simple remap via the OBD 2 port along with a turbo-back exhaust will easily yield a 30-40% power increace.
@scratchyrice No I haven't tuned one on my own, but I used to work on them on a daily basis at a semi shop (helping) build semi engines, nowadays they are about 90% turbo diesel . My old boss did all the a ecu tuning every now and then but it's just like data loging into the ecu not dyno tuning. You are right as far as I know about power coming in between 1500 and 5000 rpm, but I didn't know you can net 30-40% power just from an exhaust & ecu remap, I thought maybe like 15-20% (imo).
@da1stegr The turbos used in diesels are very high pressure compared to those used in petrols. Because of this having a turbo-back exhaust alone will yield a 5 - 8% increace in performance before any remapping or increace in turbo pressure. Diesels tend to run lean, so increacing the fueling alone will increace power by 8-10%, But then of course you will get a lot of smoke so increacing the turbo pressure will result in clearing the smoke and increacing power by another 5-8%.
@da1stegr After that its just a matter of slowly increacing fueling + turbo pressure until you reach a fuel + air mix whereby you don't get excessive smoke, and you are within the turbo's safe operating pressure (usually 20-22psi on a turbo from a turbodiesel).
After that you can get more power by getting a bigger turbo and continuing the process, bigger injectors, larger intercooler for the bigger turbo. People really dont realise how much diesels can be tuned.
@da1stegr The main reason for this extreme tunability would be due to the strength of a diesel engine compared to a petrol, meaning much much higher turbo pressures and more tuning potential.

@Precaroo turbospreżarka to może być np holset hx55 (montowany w volvo lub scani)jakiś garett lub np schwitzer z actrosa,(koszt takiej turbawy to gdzieś 1000zł uzywka),w tirach robią na takim turbie spokojnie 1 mln km(pracuje przy volvach to wiem),intercooler najlepiej zrobić na zamówienie żeby nie osłabiać budy auta,chłodnica oleju np z mocala,pompa wtryskowa 1000 euro(sekcję tłoczące mają 7.5 mm,a nie 5.5 jak oryginał),olej do tira np mobil delvac 10w40,no i skrzynia....

@Precaroo jeśli chciałbyś mieć manuala to sprzęgło na spiekacg,jeśli automata to najlepiej z v12 bo z diesla Cię przełożenie nie puści,koszt takich modów to nawet 15 tys,to już lepiej kupić rozdupionego okulara z 3.0 24V turbodiesel(om606),zrobić swapa do 124,wypieprzyć egr,elektronikę silnika i włożyć mechaniczną pompę z om603 turbo,wtedy dajesz większe turbo lub możesz dołożyć drugą(w układzie twin lub bi turbo-jak kto woli),wtryski w mercu mają duży przepływ,ale możesz poszukać większych...

@Precaroo dokładasz większy intercooler no i przelotowy wydech z nierdzewki , za jakieś 6 tyś pln masz 300 ps pod machą,w pompie zwiększasz tylko dawkę i śmigasz dieslem z osiągami 500E/E500 przy spalaniu 10 l on:).
