I've tried 2 different glazes in making bottle cap jewelry (Americana Triple Thick Brilliant Brush on Glaze and Americana DuraClear Gloss Varnish), and they made the ink from my pictures run. Will Diamond Glaze do that?
@chasethegoose Have great fun! I'm now using pliers to flatten the outer rim of the caps. finding it much easier, less noisy, and I can do about 6 caps per red light! I keep a baggie with pliers in my car. LOL! Also am using heat gun to pop out any air bubbles in the coating resin. It only gets better! Palms waving aloha,
Hey! this was a great tutorial! I liked it a lot. I have a question for you though. You know that diamond glaze you mentioned? Do you think I could put that on top of acrylic paint to keep it from chipping?
When you hammer it, you don't hammer it all the way right? I've tried with two bottle caps and they came out asymmetrical and the picture wouldn't fit, any tips please?
@smallpersonx I've hammered it both ways...sometimes smashing from both sides so i can get them symmetrical. When i prepare several dozen of same brand cap, i can usually match them up in pairs later. I also sometimes use pliers to bend down the edges. I keep tool and baggie with me if I'm waiting somewhere!

@bottlecapje This is true! I do use a hammer, awl, hole punch, pliers...whatever it takes. FYI...these are not collectible caps. If you want some of ours...happy to mail them to you in exchange for you mailing us some from Holland. Always fun to have caps from other countries!
@gymfreak852 So glad you like them. I'm now swimming in bottle caps! I got the hole puncher at our Ben Franklin Store...general craft store. you can also get them at most scrapbooking or rubber stamp stores. Just to let you know, Rubber Stamp Plantation is now on Facebook! Enjoy!
@Craftylizette Thanks so much! hope you have fun making them too...I keep a baggie in my car with a plyers, and sometimes bend down the sides at red lights:)
@Happygirl185 you can do anything you like! that's the beauty of creating!!!! try it both ways...and see what you like best. You can leave them as is even if you do want to paint them or put in a picture. Have fun!
Don't waste your money on bottle caps! go to nearest restaurant and ask them to save their caps for you...friends and family too! without plastic liners...much simpler!
Found out something interesting if anyone would like to try it. I know the seals are hard to get out and there is a remedy for that, that I found. Get your coffee pot maker out, and place your bottlecaps on the burner, and they lift up from the metal so you can just pull them out, only takes a minute or two. Hope you all can use the info it worked well with me. :)
Can you please tell me the importance of smashing the bottlecap when you can bend them how you want them and it doesn't scar them up, especially if your not going to put paint on the back? It looks all beat up on the back.
Ben Franklin Stores, Maui Ocean Center, Pacific Whale foundation, Maui Clothing...you can also call the office 808-591-2122 and ask our office manager for more stores! thx! -Debz
what size of puncher did you use , so fits into the bottle cap .i am trying to do something new , so i saw your video and is the perfect thing , thanks so much
I really like the natural graphics of the drink brands. Especially the more local/microbreweries! I've seen lots of folks who paint the back. Guess it''s what you like and how much time you want to spend on them!
Hmmmm....haven't had that problem yet. perhaps they dried too quickly, or the coating was a bit thick. you can try just a super thin coat. Add more if you like.
Judi, of Judikins (producer of the product) is super knowledgeable. Try emailing her thru the Judikins site.
My question is how is it that youbeat the edges down and then place the sticker in the frame but after the glaze dried...what you showed for after 24 hours....the sides of the edge were lifted open..did you open them back up or should the edge be left open as is? Thanks!!
Thanks for asking and for watching! The hole punch is an awl that you can get in any hardware store. Ice pick will work just as well! Have fun and create a great day!
Wow! You make it look so easy!
