LOL, you wanted a "fresh, impartial" view of Vista, so you used Goggle? You'll just find a bunch of paranoid dumb fucks puking out an endless wave of bullshit conspiracy theories, far reaching analogies, and completely made up stories. And you fell for it. Hook, line, and sinker. Now infected, you spread your fear to others. Fuck you, faggot.
Macs are far more crippled with DRM then a usual PC. It starts with the BIOS (EFI) and ends with components in the kernel.
If you wanna be "free", buy a regular PC and install a flavor of Linux* or BSD*.
*Linux Mint
*PC-BSD
The problem with Linux and BSD is, some hardware doesn't work very well with it (whoevers fault it is) and some software is not avaiable (but some other).
now Digital rights management , DRm is being put in video games that come out for computers . one of hiwh is a new game called spores people on amazon . com are given it one tsar and saying the drm does stuff to ur ocmputer after u install the game
Brother you got it. DRM = Death of Right Management! I buy a CD / DVD and I should be able to do what ever I wish with it, DRM will not last, it can't, but until then, we will have to deal with Big Brother's attempt to control our abilities! Thanks man, I'm with ya 1000% Good video important Issue!
Yeah, I am really scared about where this will all lead. Just another example, recently I came to the realization that the hotmail accout I used to love was totally screwed by Microsoft with their Live thing. For example, the Live inbox constantly tries to open Instant Messenger even though I deactivated it. I am to the point where I am getting rid of everything Microsoft except for my legitimate XP copy from 2002 mind you which I still use with SP1. I'll probably die still using it. lol
It's worse than you think. From the get go, both Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player contain spyware. Other softwares probably contain it too, but I haven't found it yet (I think Windows XP SP3 will and Vista already does). On top of that, Internet browsing and E-mail checking can often too be infringed in the case that the DRM program thinks you are using them "illegally" (as in torrents and downloads).
"THIS" is exactly why I abandoned M$ and installed Linux a year ago. I'll be damned if I put-up with this bull-shit!!! I feel safe knowing Linux isn't calling home giving out my personal info. Scanning my media files checking for so-called legal ones??!! Crippling my hardware installing "updates" on the sly without my permission. The minute I learned of PALLADIUM I RAN to Linux!! M$ has fucking "LOST IT"! You'll have to put a gun to my head before I install Vista!
I'm so glad we are getting more and more informed as a collectivity and not let any huge corporation run our lives and our own machines. Thank you to each and everyone who posts a commment here. My goal is to come to the point where most people will be aware of what is going and can have their freedom of choice. I know that once my XP doesn't work anymore, there is no way I will ever use another OS from Microsoft.
I switched my PCs to Ubuntu 7.10 and got a MacBook for that sole reason.
Apple, thankfully, doesn't use the tactics employed by MS. And the Free Software community will never employ the spying tactics used by MS. With GNU/Linux I can trust my computer, with Vista I can't!
Ok so you run to Linux, unless you complied that Linux based operating system from scratch and studied the code can you really be sure that lives within that code?
There moves by companies by spearhead DRM for open-source systems so they can play back HD content for consumer open-source systems like Ubuntu. Running away from a battle may save you skin for a while. But with the increased commercialisation of open systems like the BSDs and Linux systems, that DRM battle may come to you sooner than later.
@breckstewart
feels like they want to change the concept of a personal computer into something like a personal console with keypad and mouse.

Windows 7 shit a fucking brick when I installed Roxio media creator.
Uninstalled it, and WOW! No more problems.
Windows 7 doesn't like you making your own cds. You don't have that right, apparently.

My advice: Stick with Windows XP SP3, Ubuntu Linux or OS X.
Vista sucks in so many ways, DRM is just one more.
If you want to create something, get a Mac.

Thats odd. I have never had my Mac tell me I did not have the right to do anything with my music. Can people say the same for Vista?

Yeah if Microsoft could have just improved the XP kernel a bit and added the new compositing GUI, it would have been pretty decent.

That won't happen with gNewSense. The FSF won't allow it.

So we are back where we have started.
DRM is bad for everyone no matter what OS you use.

As you say, DRM sucks. Say no to it.
