Clear instructions were given in the score by the composer on how to perform the second movement. Both performances (Zurich) and this one are similar because those were the composers intentions.

You weren't going along with the conductor well. You weren't together. Th low brass was playing too loud. They overpowered the rest of the band.

Well, the reason why we weren't 'together' is because the song itself is meant to sound kind of 'off-beat'. Also, the low brass seemed to overpower only because they were meant to be loud. Just take a look at the music score - I think we followed it pretty well. And no, just because I played in this band doesn't mean my opinion's biased.
