boring.... rc cars with the engine in the rear connected to the rear axle with a chain is BORING. With mine, i put the engine in the front with a long drive shaft to the rear axle and a controllable clutch in the middle of the driveshaft, totally FUN, rev that 40cc baby all the way and engadge the clutch. CRAZY SHIT.
@ThomasSeriesUSA Engine in front? Hrmm odd. Btw my engines in the middle=centralized weight. Long shaft? MMM gotta love that stress and snapping sound of steel :) Controllable clutch does sound super awesome though. Yes drive shafts are better as u can drive it hard and dont have to worry about the chain coming off but keep it short to minimize stress. I might try convert mine to shaft driven later, just gotta make a diff. :) Hey put up a vid of ur car.
Yeah bro. There are some advantages with mid engine and chain, but my car is totally custom. Believe me, it has no problems. Its a big 1/4.5 scale, 40cc motor in the front , long metal drive shaft going down the center of the car with spider gears to turn the rear axle. Half way down the shaft is a controllable clutch (custom built). The shaft is split half way down with a cone at the end of 1 side of the split, and a drill that fits into the cone on the other side. A button joins them
That back sprocket is huge mate, think about it - the thing lets say only weighs 10 -20 kg, when you think about it in scale it has a bloody huge engine!, i just think your restricting your speed a little, im taking that your using bike chain and sprockets, id take a smaller, lighter sprocket off a bike, it will still spin the tires up and will be way faster, plus ya back sprocket wont get filled with so much shit lol, hate to criticize but ya need it in the big jobs. Keep up the good work.
do you think this is a good setup i got a 1/18 rc car i have a 30Amp 7esc and a 7800kv brushless motor with a 11/1v lipo battery 2000mah do you think i will have any problems?
@2014Lopez Yer i got a team losi xxxs with a 9t brushless system. I didnt want to make this electric as its just too much hassle. I want to hear the engine roar not a lil electric silent thing.
@robsterpr0d Havent done any more to it yet. Been working and easter celebrations. I wont get i spare second to do anything to it until wednesday so ur just going to have to suffer. Then again im on holidayz now so ill get a lot done in one day. Should finish it within a day once my servos are in.
@brendonv101 omg awesome i cant wait too see it finished........i never realised how awesome the stuff you make is until i researched that the stuff you make is better then the stuff they sell in shops over here that cost's just over 500 pounds
@geoff390 Yer it didnt work how i planned anyway. It didnt self adjust quick enough and the chain got thrown off. Its hard mounted now and works wicked.
very cool series so far. i was wondering if it was structurally sound enough to ride it like a skakeboard when youre done the project...lol. that would be neat.
the chain must not be lose for a 100% chance of no chain getting of
