What he really means is get ur stupid drums and play around with them. And tuning really has to do with what styles are u playing. I'm church drummer so we play jazz, country, Rock,r&b,gospel, and Latin so I have a big kit two small toms tuned high two very low toms and one Tom in the middle of those two snares a high one and low one. Two rides and that covers everything

you should really put the head on.. push down on it... get out the wrickles, then alittle tunning... it'll be lowest possible pitch...... and ditch the pillows, and blackets,

He didn't even play the drum. You have to play it in order to tune it correctly because you tune to a pitch that you like. The batter side is more important because when you have a hole on the outside head, it's impossible to get an even pitch lug to lug unless it's dead center.

Put a pillow(s) in the bass drum(s) first, then tune your bass drum to the way you like it to sound. That's how I did it, but I'm still just a beginner too :) . I use a double bass, so I'm still tuning them to sound the same.

Like metal? as in, metal music? the majority of the sound you hear in a bass drum is about recording, but also your heads. Evans Emads will give you a pretty sweet sound, and they only take like 5 minutes to tune. They're expensive though. Metal drummers often trigger their bass drums to get an even sound, but to get a clicky sound out of your bass drum... well you can;t really. its just recording.
