well, these days, almost every computer comes with a shiny screen, unfortunately. However, lenovo's line of tablets has a matte coating to reduce glare and give the pen a little grip. And i *think* i read that the sony reader (prs-700) doesn't have a shiny screen.

I wished they would have chosen a white background. This is similar to the GameBoy screen technology without backlight.

this is nothing like game boy's LCD screen. this is e-paper (e-ink). search for "electronic paper" on wikipedia for more info.

It's not e-ink. It isn't an LCD but it also isn't made by E-Ink. There are multiple companies, with multiple approaches.
