Oh this takes me back in the late 70s I remember my aged Grandad playing this on his wireless. God bless him he died over 20 years ago now.

I remember this on 'Junior Choice' when growing up in the early seventies. Brilliant!

Not exactly a monologues, but one of Stanley Holloway's quips that should be better known...
One night Holloway was leaving a theatre with Rex Harrison when an old lady asked Harrison to autograph her program.
Harrison, the soul of courtesy, told her to Sod of, whereupon the old lady rolled up her program and whacke Harrison over the head with it..
Holloway roared with laughter and remarked that this was probably the first time in theatre history that the fan has hit the shit.
