  • Very cool! Was this one originally a Super DC-3? Kudos to you for maintaining and operating this classic airplane--keep 'em flying!

  • That is a nice plane. It's a shame they don't use them for public transport anymore.

  • can you show the ignition switch-both-left-right-off

  • ive been looking for Dc-3s for sale and im realy surprised that there actualy quite cheap for the size of the plane only$200,000 which is only like £136,000 so for me is realy good!!

  • I flew this aircraft (N8009) for almost 3 years when it was operated by International Shoe Machine Corporation out of Nashua, NH. A marvelous old aircraft... and she ain't dead yet!

  • wow thats awesome. is there any way i can catch a ride with you guys?? i'm a student pilot, i'm currently working in my private license =)

by the way, i have a bunch of friends in Helena Montana, my friend''s dad is a pastor up there, and i think one of my friends lived in Billings.

  • @xfernydrummerX Sorry, we were just delivering it from NY to Seattle a few years back. Not my airplane, unfortunately. Read about the trip at DC3Transcon d com

  • An amazing aircraft. Just the fact that they are still flying after all these years.

  • whats the name of your company? how do i contact you!?. looks like a lotta fun.

  • Did you make it back safe?

  • When I was a young man, I flew on DC-3s many times in the 1950s and 60s. Then, I was so impressed by its size. Now, they seem so small.

The 3 is still my favorite aircraft. Thank you for sharing this.

  • I could see Clark Gable walking out of that plane.

The plane was rented for the trip?

Do you concern yourself with the restoration? How do you check on the quality?

  • Yes, ordenants are bombs

  • boy ohh boy!!! its a magnificent AC!!! how i wish i could join you on this trip!!! :-(

  • with 1 word: absolutley amazing!

  • @kemestri thats 2 words

  • These aircraft are simply amazing in the way that each one holds an amazing story. And the interior is great! Love those old birds

  • Cool, some of the Piper Cherokees at my flight school had Garmin 150s.

Also, how much was the entire thing? Or was it a restoration project?

  • I flew this A/C ( when it was N8009 ) for about 3 years with Capt. Foster McEdward. It was owned by International Shoe Machine Corporation at the time. The Chinese symbol on the wing dates back to when it was in use by CNAC ( China National Aviation Company ). A wonderful aircraft. Did you guys find the hidden "deactivation switch"? ( this was installed after the aircraft was hijacked once ).

  • What did this deactivation switch do? and where was it located? and do YOU have any idea what the ordinance switch is for?

  • NICE aircraft

  • excellent vid full of cool info. i always wanted to know what they looked like on the inside.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! You have the ability to dump blue asteroids? I would be scared to piss you off

  • TANAKS...atc guys gota love ya...sweet

  • Who owns this? After seeing this vid, I think

i'll take another look at the C-46's on trade-a-plane.

  • I always liked corporate configured private planes.

  • i did not know the dc-3 was luxurious

  • She's obviously a luxurious house with wings ! 5*

  • Looks like my apartment

  • Nice Vid and DC-3!!

  • this is a flight house

  • Very nice Vid

  • yea it is generally a good idea to have only one of you take a nap at a time

    both...then things get interesting LOL

  • Amazing video and an excellent aircraft. And a very interesting configuration. 5 stars and a subscription.

  • What a brilliant video. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

The first time I flew was in a DC3 in India in 1946. I've never forgotten it.

  • Hey you,

thank you for your DC3. Its a super Video. Happy landing and a good nice year 2009.

    Michael from germany

  • thats a pretty cool airplane

  • AWESOME vid i personly thought that DC-3's are old and un atrackting...........but you changed my whole thought of that............5 stars and a subscription :)

  • WOW... obviously a TRIP of a lifetime! I be it was special to go with your dad! I am sure you guys will say somewhere among the vids... but what occasion did you find yourself doing such a ferry with such a bird?

    WELL DONE GUYS...

I stumbled on to these by accident and I cannot seem to be able to stop... good thing it is Sunday!

    Dr Rich

  • Thanks Dr. Rich.

An aviation collector in the Seattle area bought the airplane with the intention of restoring it in the original Pan Am colors. He contacted my dad to bring it out. Check out the blog I did about it at dc3transcon dt com

  • Excellent! Book a flight on a DC-3 down here myself for late july, you gotta love em! Thanks for sharing.

  • Kalamazoo MIchigan!!!! thats where I,m from, that was unexpected, i just looed up dc-3!

  • Why do you need a towbar?

  • To get it in and out of the hangar. It's just too big to push, and the tow bar allows for the tailwheel to be positioned correctly when moving it around.

  • Oh cool

  • That's some cool plane you've got! I'm gonna fly one tomorrow cant wait :)

  • Is this not a Super DC-3? Only prior DC-3 pilots would know what differences were put in those by the Douglas folks...Just wondering...

  • Nice man you got a Bomber for a corporate aircraft. lol. Well I want to own and fly one of those in the future(a Hard Dream I think). Well Maybe not that hard as there are plenty of DC-3's around.

  • comic books? definitely a corporate plane :)

  • nice love ur videos

  • what an awesome airplane, whoever fitted it out did a great job with it

  • How funny would it be if "Ordinance" emptied the lavs.:P he he bombs....I am so immature.

  • The conversion was almost certainly done by the Grand Central Aircraft Company in Glendale, CA. It may have belonged to Russell Havenstrite of Los Angeles, and may have originally been called the "Blue Nose".

  • Wow, great info! Thanks!

  • looks u guys have a lot of fun:D

  • This is an excellent video. Thank you.

  • I'm very impressed at the altimeters at each seat. It's unusual that the flap lever is (or at least appears to be) almost behind your seat.

    Excellent tour, Kent!

  • Update: For now, the trip is on hold. The airplane needs a bit of troubleshooting and then we hope to be off in April or May. I'll post here when we're off!

  • Yes, very informative! Great interior, too. Thanks! :^)

  • must be a far cry from the T7 your so use to flying. hope you post some on your website as well.

  • Hopefully I'll do a daily video report like this for the trip. Might leave in 4 or 5 days. We're waiting for a cylinder to be changed.

  • Way to go Kent! I can just imagine how fun your trip will be!

  • Great! Very informational. Will you be posting more information about the trip in your blog?

  • Great video!
