@IrminC what a load of bull. if you really believe that garbage you probably also think that helmets cause injury and loud pipes save lives. sorry but i've been riding too long to believe the myths. actually, a shield does more to help stabilize the bike at highway speed. also, over the years having a shield has saved me from serious injury many times from road debris and rocks as well as birds. so i'll stick with the facts.

At high speeds a motorcycle will flutter or buffet and a huge, flat plastic surface acting as a sail drastically increases this.

This is fact, not theory. That doesn't imply the benefits outweigh the costs also I doubt they do.
