Yes that is a fair assessment. Yes there needs to be some lateral move into the left hip to move the low point of the swing forward. There are many who feel a lateral moves will slow the rotation therefore reducing speed. It must be a combination of lateral and rotation of the hips. It is acceptable for a one planer to move laterally, but just enough to move into the left hip socket ( given a right handed player)
