I had two pins taken out of my knuckle in my pinky. They didn't numb me or anything. It didn't hurt at all. But they weren't straight down the length of the bone like in this video.

awsome last month in baseball i totally broke my middle ring and pinkie finger i had two surgery the first was to set them the second was for the pins because they had to just barely cut me open to get a couple of them and that was just bout 1 hour ago trust me people the worst pain at the surgery is prob the IV wich the put in u wich doesnt even hurt barely and btw im only 10 yrs old

hey.. i had the same situation with you but it was a cactus thorn got inside my hand for almost a week and it became infected. i think my thumb is worst compare with you because it was fully opened by a surgeon. a lot of dead tissues were removed.

i had 4 surgeries so its as good as its going to be. the index finger barely moves, my thumb barely moves, and a join in my ring finger is frozen. but they got me palying drums again, and thats all i care about =)

keep working on it, do your physio on your own, it may take years but you're young, you have time, don't give up no matter what they tell you. i've damaged all fingers in both hands at some point - latest I crushed both ring fingers joints with 60 pound weights, still have a lot of pain, but not giving up on the recovery. good luck!

I had a metal pin pulled out of my thumb without any sort of anesthetic or numbing. While I sympathize with you on the pain of that injection, be glad you had it!

Usaqurl14 I cut my thumb flexor tendon & cut nerves on a damn pull top can lid. I could not move my first joint & had emerency surgery. After 5 weeks the hand therapist & MD. said that the tendon had ruptured apart. Had a MRI, I have to have surgery again. Did your tendon get damaged or work later on? part of my thumb is still numb.

No my ulnar ligament was completely severed in a rollerblading accident. This left my second joint (from the top) very loose and painful. The first surgery was to reconstruct the ligament using a tendon from my foot. The metal pin that I referenced in my first comment was holding the graft tendon in place and pulled 3 weeks post-op.... (see next comment)

(...continued) That failed and gave me great pain so my second operation was a major one to fuse the joint with 4 metal pins. Basically I cannot move my second joing on my R thumb. It doesn't inhibit much that I do. The third surgery was to remove the "hardware" or four meal pins from the second surgery. What sucks is that it still hurts now and there is nothing more to do.
