Accuton Drivers regarded as some of the best for mid-ranges. But in terms of material cost for the speaker it should not cost over 20k.

I love the Avalon line. But you need the very best electronics to drive 'em. It's not hard to drop $40,000 on a pair of Avalon loudspeakers and an amp. For $8,000 (or even less) you can get the same level of quality from the Linkwitz Orion.

Yes of course they are good but the prices of things like this and others are beyond obscene.

I'd wager this --, that for all of the hype that goes into marketing high end loudspeakers like Avalon, Wilson, JM labs and others, a set of Quad 2905 electrostatics properly set up transduces more information and are overall more natural and satisfying to listen to at a far lower price.

@sweetsweatyfeet Yes, Wilson and all those other speakers are over rated. B&W as well. But that's also why I'm sorta jumping into the world of DIY and use pro amps to power them instead with a active crossover. You should check out Salk speakers, craftsmanship on them is top notch.

i could build those! the drivers they are using are a Accuton C173N-T6-90 for the midrange, a Accuton C30N-6-24 for the tweeter and two Eton 12-680 woofers. check it out. i can tell these will sound great just by what drivers they used. i realy want to here these!

avalon builts rigid cabinets and uses quality drivers. the sound is a question of tase. to me they sound somewhat technical (i´ve not listened to the isis though, but those concepts seem to be very similar to prior models).

never heard the avalon isis, but the wilsons sound fantastic. although the wilsons low end isnt as neutral as i would expect from such an expensive speaker. The isis had the most positive reviews i've ever read.

It's all personal taste in the end, but I find wilson's to be a little too bright with most (even well recorded) music. Very fatiguing, though much of that was probably the Classe amp they were being demoed with.

Would like to hear a pair of watt/puppy's with a big VPI tube amp though. Maybe they would balance out.

The Watt/puppys have an amazing perfomance, natural, not fatiguing sound with the ARC Reference 3- Krell Evolution combo. Try ARC to have a tube experience.
