Are the helmets used by the Russian players actual WWII-era helmets, or are they using the similar, more modern helmets?

This is why I play Airsoft. I love playing at real MILSIM games. No lying, I do love those short CQB games. But once I get out of high school, I will definitely be attending war reenactments. It's dependent on getting enough people with enough gear. ATM very few have PTO stuff and there are only about 3 who play Jap - then again, a few years ago we never thought we'd have enough Red Army to put on an Eastern Front game, so who knows...

@MRresievil310 It was one of the best WW2 airsoft event I have taken part in and I am pleased that this guy made such a belting job on the video, I have this on my laptop in work instead of a screen saver. :-)

Don't know how much of a historian you are or anything but did the Americans ever send Thompson M1A1's to the Russians? Or even the Thompson 1928? Just curious.

Also, were any FG-42's present during this or any other game?

There are a few pictures of Soviet soldiers with 1928s and bazookas but not many. They certainly weren't exported in any significant numbers.

There is only one custom made FG42 that I know of. It wasn't widely produced or used in WW2

@jackassassain The Russians did get a few Thompson’s but didn't seem to use them, a number of them have come onto the market in recent years and have been de-activated and sold in the UK. The one my friend had was never fired I am told it had been stored in one of these Russian salt mines we here about.

Maybe there was a problem with ammunition supply from the USA, no good having a toy if you cant get the batteries for it LOL.

Most armies had pre WWI weapons - K98k (1898), SMLE (1907), Springfield (1903), etc.

Yes. KTW do a spring Mosin Nagant for about $1000 and Hexagon in China are about to release a PPSH-41 for a lot less than that. Most Soviet guns used in this game were custom made though.
