Imagine a kid's game called Time Bomb where you have to toss the bomb back and forth and not be holding it when it goes off! Back then you could joke and play games like that because there was no worry about real bombs.
@Enigma758Yes! I watched this show as a kid and always in my memory I thought the host WAS Jackie Gleason. Until now, when I did a Google search and found this video clip and discovered I was wrong all this time. (I used to watch The Jackie Gleason show and reruns of The Honeymooners back then as well, so my memory got them mixed in with this show).
@formsofthingsunknown BTW, "The Forms of Things Unknown" is one of my favorite O.L. episodes. The room with the clocks and wires has been ingrained in my head since childhood!
I used to watch this show on Saturday Mornings and I also had the board game too which was a lot of fun . Time Bomb was also fun to play with , oh how I miss those days of being a kid in the 60's !
"Kenny The Cop"(Mr.Williams)wouldn't have trouble with the guy in the bear suit(Oh Really?)..but the live chimp? Forget It! You can't work with a wild animal on tv.
a wonderful wonderful show..they used to have a board game of Shenanigans...Operation is the last survivor. I truly Miss a show like that...it could never be done today too many people have time on their hands to be offended
The organist was Arlo Hults; the show's announcer was Kenny Williams (as "Kenny the Cop")- he later served as announcer for Heatter-Quigley's "HOLLYWOOD SQUARES".
This was produced when virtually everything on ABC was telecast in black and white; the ONLY color shows featured on their prime-time schedule, when this originally aired in early 1965, were "THE FLINTSTONES" and "JONNY QUEST". This aired on Saturday mornings at 10am(et) for almost two seasons. It was a reworking of Heatter-Quigley's previous "giant board" game, "VIDEO VILLAGE".
This is a bittersweet find for me. I had thought it was Chuck McCann who had hosted this. I do remember the "Sword of Damocles", "Tiddly-Winks", and "Pie-in-the-Eye" contests. I also had the MB "Shenanigans" Board Game, and my brother had the "Time-Bomb" toy, which was a lot of fun back then. Thanks for posting this.
Don't want to give away my age, but I remember watching this show, and I especially remember the theme song. Thanks so much for posting this! Brought back some sweet memories and some tears to my eyes.
Funny, I would have sworn this show was in color. One of my favorites, especially the song and what a great set. I remember that big eyeball - LOL! Thanks for posting!

Pretty subtle with the commercials, LOL. I loved this show when I was a kid, though!

For a moment there as he was prancing around, Stubby looked alot like Jackie Gleason.

@formsofthingsunknown I can easily see that happening. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out he was influenced by "The Great One".

I don't recall ABC doing much in color at this time. Probably if it were, only b/w prints would exist, anyway.
