  • Maybe a bad question but... is he blind?

  • @Tomiitoz There's no actual evidence on that, but I'm pretty sure that he's not.

  • This song has grown on me to become one of my favorites. I also love a piece he plays called "Saturn" - from Masters of the acoustic guitars (Narda).

Excellent musical artist. I hope he's well and continues to stay that way.

  • my favorite of Dean Magraw's songs on youtube :]

  • I figured this out at one point(yeah the whole thing) but i didnt play it for a long time and now i cant remember how to play most of it

    ;__;

  • @iwannacapo I wish Dean had entered "Twilight", not those role model people.

  • Muito shoowww

    good

    i love

  • Great guitar player. Standard tuning and plectrum. Very refreshing to see and hear.

    Thank you Mr. Magraw.

  • dont disrespect the man hes a really good guitarest u wouldnt like it if u were in his place and u got made fun of now im not being mean but u know were all human and we all have feelings

    nice job man

  • With music at his side, cancer doesn't stand a chance! Dominate that shit Dean!

  • Thanks Dean Magraw.

  • Where does Candyrat get all those guys?? Amazing piece.

  • Cancer or not...respect his musical talent. He is a great guitarist. Annd yessir to the standard tuning, I'd say. Well done Dean!

  • While in Afghanistan, my mate in my unit showed me this video, it floored me i've never seen or heard of anyone play the guitar this well. Simply brilliant. Cheers to great music and Dean Magraw and good luck with the cancer battle mate, we are all praying for you, and I will put you in my prayers.

    Cheers from England,

    RelaxingVideosInc.

  • He LOOKS SO much like Django Reinhart!!! He's no Andy McKee though

  • @nikgottheblues But not a bad guitarist : D

  • @nikgottheblues He doesn't try to be anyone else, hes himself, I don't understand the point of comparing the two, they both have different styles, I personally like Dean a lot more than Andy. I had no idea who Django Reinhart was until you said his name and your right he looks exactly like him but without the mustache :)

  • beautiful :)

  • Candyrat records house the best guitar players in the world.

  • Was on your website and saw that you're doing gigs again, nice to see! Good luck with the battle. Love this song, very soothing.

  • I wan't to play your pieces....hero!

  • dude he has cancer. thats probably why hes so white, support the man

  • This song seems to be right along with my skill level I would love to learn this song.

  • oh Dean please play morning has broken !

  • You think this is good??!?!?!?!!?!?!? Listen to Andy Mckee!!!!!! Mckee WILL make your sould breathe and rest in peace

  • @Arbitor2

    no mckee ist boring

  • @Arbitor2 why would you write such a disrespectful comment?? how can you possibly have ANYTHING against ANY of the candyrat artists????

  • Reminds me of my childhood listening to this.

  • repeats abit much

  • I didn't know a flatpicker in standard tuning could make such beatuful tones. Candyrat has one hell of a stable of talent.

  • Thisis better than anythingsomestupid plastic guitar can do. I just love these kinds of music. The ones where no matter your mood, youwill always feel calm listening to this.

  • Sections of this remind of oh well by fleetwood mac (well peter green), hope that seems like a compliment because to me that most definitely is.

  • D.M. You're a talentd guitarist with distinctive style. Your music puts me in a good place...Thanks!

  • this song reminds me of gustavo santaolalla's stuff from motorcycle diaries. maybe its just me.

i envision a slightly disheveled guy with a shoulder bag walking across long stretches of grass and fields of grain when i hear this song.

  • watching Dean has made me stop bashing the crap out of my guitar and relax both hands and Im stunned how much everything has improved. I am no longer the Aussie strangler! dean is simply amazing technically, but more importantly highly entertaining. I wonder if these guys realize how far their influence reaches.

  • Is this in standard tuning?

    Thank you.

  • @Rabbitdrummer666 Sounds like standard tuning. Suprising because I didn't think anyone could write something as beautiful as this in standard.

  • Who cares who is better. The guys is creating beautiful music.

  • @inflameswetrust1000 there are different from each other and besides thats not how should you see music.

  • also more you should know that each musician has its essence this is also an excellent musician.

  • beautiful.

  • he should get a role in a vampire film. with the current craze about them and his looks he could make it lol

  • am i only person thinking we've found real vampire on youtube O.o

  • I had wondered what 'the Count' from sesame street was up to these days. -1minor 7th, 2 minor 7ths.........

    Lovely piece well played.

  • HAHAHAHA oh you just made my day with that comment =]

  • @mungogubbins Nice lol

  • hahahahahahaha that is totally true man!

  • @iwannacapo lolzz

  • @iwannacapo no, actually he just has cancer...... Im being serious.

  • @fancracker33 like skin cancer?

  • @iwannacapo im not sure what kind of cancer specifically. But i know its the kind of cancer that makes you a truley wise and beautiful human being, which is evident in this music.

  • @iwannacapo what else would he have to do all day. he cant go outside.

  • @iwannacapo Dean is suffering from cancer, so your "joke" is a bit inappropriate.

  • @llawfhionn i said that over a year ago chill out lol. i know its not funny and i didn't know that when i posted that comment. as well i think i commented an apology somewhere on here during the past 12 months. ... wasn't aware my comment had that many likes O.o

  • It's seems like i can't move to the next song, when listening to this one. Stirring and emotional.

  • Often time the most simple of measure can create the most complex emotion in a person. Simplicity is the coming together of the complex to bring forth pure sound. If you cant feel the pain in this song then your out of touch with real music

  • I don't feel pain in this song, more like splendour.

  • @vba84 , dont say ''If you cant feel the pain in this song then your out of touch with real music '' most of the time music is always by own interpretation. music do not have the same impact on everybody.

  • woow

  • that's very beautiful !

  • to properly compare is to say; i am only a drop of water whose only hope and dream is to become an ocean that is the overall beauty of your music

  • say what ?

  • bro what?

  • you speeka da english ?

  • yes..i do. lol

  • Memories of a moonlit lullaby.

  • well he is not bad but is so sleeping

    lol

  • dang thats a very nicely aged martin i think..sounds so far better than all other guitars in this channel ;o

  • I just wondering how to be a member.... I'm from the Philippines... and I would like to share Filipino sounds and of course using my Flamenco Guitar.

  • Contact someone if you seriously think you are comparable!

  • Beautiful Music Dean..

  • this is briliant but knowone seems to have the dynamic and efertless sound of Andy Mckee

  • He doesn't seem to need a lot of effort to get his sound either. Andy McKee is an amazing player, but it would be ruining the business comparing every candyrat guitarist to him.

  • If you believe Andy Mckee's music sounds effortless, or "efertless" then you either have extremely bad taste in music, or there's something wrong with your ears. Andy's music overall gives the impression of much effort and persistance.

  • dont compare guitarists

    it is in bad taste

  • This is absolutely amazing...

  • Mist of the Mourning sounds like an analogy to tears, in my opinion...

  • This song allways calms me down. And when i can't sleep i listen to this song and i stop thinking about everything it gives me peace of mind.

  • That is some of the finest acoustic guitar playing I have heard in a long time.. I like how seamless the harmonics are played in the upper fretboard. Like pulling silk through the strings.. A brilliant song!

  • That's good, but I thought it was going to be more intense.

    I really liked it though!

  • why would a song with the title "mist of the mourning" be intense?

  • It's Mist of the "Mourning," not Mist of the Morning.

  • Is that a D-28 Martin? Beautiful playing.

  • Sorry, no time to hear the whole song now ,but the title and the first notes at least are briliant..

  • beautiful playing. this song takes me to a serene place

  • ...fills my heart and soul with a sense of peace and passion, a feeling of freedom and dignity...

...makes me humble every time I listen to it...

...what a grand talent here on display...

    ...appreciation Dean...

  • chill, real, exceptional as usual. get better soon dean (nephew Dan)

  • Not that it's any of my business, it isn't, but if this man is in anyway unwell, and you're in a position to do so, extend him the sympathies, the regard, and the profound gratitude of a person who his music has deeply and wonderfully impacted.

  • What are you talking about? Mourning is a state of grief and morning is a time of day. There is nothing "fancy," about either term. If it didn't make sense to you, perhaps you didn't place it in its context... it was a response to one who thought the song's feel didn't match it's name.

  • Thank you for opening my eyes, and reminding me of the frets

  • this is why i quit guitar hero and am saving for an acoustic.

  • Thats the spirit :D!

  • @jimmypagek26 its much better much much better : 3.... and you can get a job playing guitar .... not so easy with guitar hero

  • @jimmypagek26 dude no one ever truly quits guitar hero. lol and besides, its actually good strength and dexterity training

  • you STILL baggin on people ha7ed?? Take a chill pill dude. Enjoy life for a change.

  • Bitter sweet. Remorsefully reminiscent. A tear in the rain. Beautifully temporary.

  • Simple, get complex, and 100% auditory poetry.

  • i could not have said it better myself.

  • Don't pay any attention to stochastikos...he still thinks this is an Xbox game.

  • ha7ed is just trolling, hence his name. he most likely cant play guitar or is limited to stairway to heaven and sweet home alabama.

this is a great tune btw

  • Beautifull

  • Absolutly beautiful.

  • amazing.. is it a standart tuning?

  • easy going^^

  • wow

  • One of my favorite acoustic guitar performances ever!

  • wow!

  • love your song ! !!!!

  • pffffff que c'est beau j'ecouterais pendant des heures ...

  • wow.

    amazing harmonics.

  • What kind of microphone is that??

  • same ^^ .. i always start the "axoustic guitar video streams" befor i go to sleep ^^

+hrhrhrh+ glad to know a place like this :P

  • ok Ive been going through videos under candyrat

    I am so glad D:

this is the best stream of videos of acoustic guitar in all of youtube hahaha holycrap

  • I still find it amazing that this guy can play something so simple, yet so beautiful. A true artist, he is.

He either puts a lot of thought into his compositions or he just plays and it comes out naturally.

  • both would show the creative genius in his playing. to play guitar in such a manner to to be an artist. his harmonies and abstract progressions make a completely original and unique piece of music.

even watching the other videos of his, in every style he plays, he is by far one of the most creative i've ever heard. i am unable to simply call this man a guitarist: to me he is an all out composer. they should get an orchestra to play his music! they're so dramatic and emotion filled!

  • I like how he gleans such a smooth melody from the same basic chords any guitarist learns. The amazing thing to me is the notes are there for all of us to play, Dean manages to make the most out of them.

I would still put Don Ross or Antoine DuFour on McKee in my top 3, Dean fits somewhere in the top ten for certain.

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • as a string bassist, i have never seen harmonics used like that on a guitar before

    beautiful

  • muppet, your rubbish compared to this man

  • what? can you play better ha7ed?

even if you can learn some manners.

  • He probably makes more than both of us put togther playing gigs. AND has a recording contract.

    LOL

  • Beautiful.

  • is this steel strings?

  • yes

  • simply amazing

  • while somewut emotionally stirring i personally think dean is just 2 slow for my taste :P

  • Hey Chosen, yeah some of Dean's stuff doesn't really seem to "take off" but tunes like this really remind me of kicking back with some mates at the end of a night and just winding down. I think it's pretty cool.

  • reminds me a lot of ackerman... beautiful

  • great song !!!

  • nice...

  • I don't like the sound of the pick.

    Good piece though.

  • Some great, soulful playing!

  • Wow. I think this piece is a perfect statement to all those guys squeezing in as many notes as they possibly can, all that proficient guitar wankery.

  • I get what you mean, but there are some great peices by him.

  • Grynch, you MUST listen to Andy McKee. You simply must.

  • Wow, buddy. Just wow.

  • god i love this song

  • this guy works miracles in standard tuning, great natural harmonics, and the song is so head smackingly simple, but just brilliant!!

  • do you notice the economy in his down and up strokes?

  • I think this the most,,, uhm,, dont know this song makes me speakless..

    Thnx post this one ,,!!!

  • Speachless you mean?

  • uhmm yeah (A)

  • Try speechless

  • There is a very subtle power about this piece. It's incredible.

  • excellent piece

  • beautiful.

  • ...zZzzz... Makes me wanna lay down somewhere and watch the sky all day and night.

  • i'm almost sure he's playing on a Martin guitar, maybe a D-28 i can't tell exactly but it's defenitly a Martin dreadnought. i dig their thick deep low tones

it's a very nice and peaceful tune, great player also.

  • I could listen to this man play all night. Marvellous ear and tone, beautiful sense of rhythm. So understated and still powerful. That, shredders, is how you play a guitar...

  • Wow to true man well said =] peace...

  • I don't think I've ever seen this guy with his eyes open...

  • maybe he's blind.. just shooting in the dark here, lol

  • AWESOME!!!!!! acoustic guitar master!!!

  • just excellent

  • could anyone send me the tabs of this song? :)

  • If you look carefully you can discover it by your self ,, I think thats awesome 2 do,, and better for your guitar skills:)

  • met him in milwaukee a few weeks ago along with andy mckee ...great guy..great music!keep going!

  • I cannot agree with you more on this..... My family has, to begin with, always stressed me to do what i love but as i started to pursue a carreer, they then wanted me to start ,as u said, Working for a living.... Now that i has started to pursue my Music, they see it as rebellion and....... its just a bunch of bull-shit... closed-mindedness. ....and really does anyone like this song..it has shone me that it is more than possible for me to get signed,

  • this guys a sweet jammer. bet he enjoys intoxication ;)

  • we are using h for b in poland;]

  • Love the song but it sounds like the tempo could be a bit faster. AWESOME!

  • Dean, how did you figure out the Add &fmt=18 thing?

    -Steven

  • ..it says in description..

  • ..he was talking to rpoland

    ..

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.......

  • Very special to me...

    Thank you.

    Best regards

    Staffan

  • once again you have put another amazing song out keep up the great string playing

  • This is really good, it sounds like something i would write actually. It is exactly my way of musical thinking.

If i could write my own music that is.

  • Que artista!!!
