  • People, Y U NO just enjoy the song?? Official language in Middle Century England was French since William I....After English started changing, it got to a point when it sounded smth like German....German and English are both Germanic languages. There is your answer.

Source: My faculty of English studies....-.-

  • ohhhhhh how I love oomph! :D

  • Five people are not dreaming with Dero.<3

  • i'm french, i don't understand german language but this song rocks xD

  • Ich liebe Deutschland und diesen Lied. <3333

  • Finally, the original song version without Marta! I prefer the sexy Dero's voice to monopolise all the song.

  • 5 ppl suck for disliking this video!

  • yes but german comes from french, therefore english derives itself indirectly from french

  • Ich liebe oomph

  • @EnTeRtHeCrOw187 obama is half :)

  • @iceeblueboy Half Hitler yes I agree lmao. Other half is Karl Marx. :P

  • awesome great band

  • This music is fucking awesome ! Respect from POLAND

  • @ptysiak94 KURWA POLSKA!!!!!!!

  • uhm.... did i miss something? this is a german band, yea, but who cares? german music owns all. whats all this talk about nazi, crap. were did THAT come from?

  • @Doominator70 Hell yeah ur totally right! Im sick of bein called a freakin Nazi just bc im german >_< und ich lieb dass lied :)

  • i <3 it xxx

  • hey tacytrn, here's a thought. lots of music is politically motivated. doesn't mean it's Nationalist orientated. check out System of a Down. 95% of their songs are politically motivated. as for WWII, well, after what i've read, alot of people have a VERY incorrect retelling of those events. but if you wanna go for the throat for "evil" politicians, look up a certain guy named Joseph Stalin. enjoy.

  • @wulferos2 i think you got me wrong lol reread :P

but anyway i am saying it's stupid how people talk about all germans being nazis these days when that way of has been abolished long ago

and i am aware as to how much more of a tyrant stalin was than hitler even.

    ;)

  • @tacityrn Eh, 'more' of a tyrant? They were both tyrant psychofucks, I doubt you can put em on scales like that.

  • and like doom if you are sarcastic than it's all good

  • how bout we all start hunting you little shits out.

ya know how the world loved going on nazi hunts

how bout we go on hunts for racist shits discriminating a nation

that has abolished that way of life long ago

    grab your fucking brain.

  • GERMANY ALL THE WAY

  • ze music sa gereeeeeeeeee

  • even though i have no idea what they are singing about in this song i still love it!! oomph amazing band!!!

  • England knew many invasions and French once was the official language in England : P

So it isn't so suprising that some words may be similair to French, but the Grammar is Germanic.

English knows many influences : )

This song rocks btw : D

  • were do yo get you info. English has always been spoken in ENGLAND...

plus the french are gay, frog eaters, with nasty teeth

  • duh... French was the common language in England during 11th century till Edward IV in 1354 of sometinhg -.-'

    My source, School : P

  • @Appasuperfan That doesn't make sense. Entire nation(s) of people cannot suddenly speak a foreign language, especially not when quick cultural spreading was limited during Medieval times. At best it would be the fewer members of the upper echelons of society that spoke some French, the courtspeople and the clergy. French words may flow into the lay words of the vast peasant population, but not entire French grammars and such unless there was forced reeducation of Eng language, like Danes did.

  • @Appasuperfan ahem, French was once the official COURT language. Peasants & all others still spake their ancient forms of English. I think you are talking about the 11th century with William the Conqueror, the dude from Normandy in France. many French words were put in English at this time.

Eng Grammar is Germanic? Really? I thought it has been influenced by other languages so much its completely its own form of grammar now. Danes really shuffled Eng grammar up.

  • @CrabTastingMan

English grammar is very heavily influenced by the germanic languages. In essence, English is a mixture of French, German and borrow words from other languages, which evolved. alot of verbs come from early Germanic roots, alot of vocabulary comes from medieval French.

  • @IamDaReAlSeaN Don't forget Latin. Latin spawned almost all the Indo-European languages :)

  • @CrescentWolven2

it spawned the Romance languages like French, Spanish, Italian, Occitan, Romanian, Portugese, basically most of the south european languages. the three major european language families are germanic, romance and slavic, then there's small ones like the austro-hungarian and celtic families :)

  • @IamDaReAlSeaN Actually, if I remember correctly, it borrows more from Latin, Saxon and French. I doubt it borrows that much from Germanic, unless Saxon has roots in Germanic?

  • @TausMunk

Saxon is a germanic language. English borrows vocabulary alot from latin, french etc. but alot of the grammar and verbs came from the germanic language family e.g tanzen = dancing halten = to hold/keep essen = eating

    you can see the similarities.

  • @IamDaReAlSeaN Yes. At school today, I looked it up, and I did notice that English is under the Germanic stem. I stand corrected :)

  • @Appasuperfan I always thought that the reason that many words in modern French sound similar to German, was the fact that around 59 BC the french region was invaded and conquered by one of the German nomadic tribes known as the "Franks", and the two dialects mingled. But you're correct on 2 key points in my opion 1) Many sounds in both languages are very similar, 2) This song does rock!!

  • @Appasuperfan Englisch actually comes from German

XD aber is geschmackssache

    sehr geil

  • Amazing.......I myself speak 4 languages......and for all the bands like this Oomph is truly the best one of all!

  • @musicmaniac123654 Which 4 languages do you speak German,Italian,French English?

  • German isnt easy to learn no matter how close they are.

Many Grammatical differences that have to be learned by heart.

  • @Fragem420 It's still much easier than, say, French.

  • most people think German is really hard if you're coming from English. They're fooling themselves. They're both Germanic languages. People just think English is latin-based because it takes so much from Latin and Latin-based languages.

  • does anyone know what the song title means?

  • "You're dreaming"/"You dream".

  • Since "Träumst" comes before "Du" it makes a question. "Du Träumst" would be "You dream/You're dreaming."

  • The Song title means "Do you dream?". There is no question mark though which might have confused DorMaiaDor. In the chorus he is asking the person he is adressing:

"Will you dream with me tonight / Will you jump (suggesting 'off the roof') with me tonight / Will you dream with me tonight / Will you come to the roof with me"

  • thx. interesting word choice for the song..

  • it means: are you dreaming ?

UNGLAUBLICHE VIDEO WALLOAC

  • Spanish is easier that German, was for me :P I speak 6 languages, English being my first language, German my second :P xx

  • Which langaugs do you know?

And how do you know them?

    By yourself?

  • French, Spanish, German, Russian, Greek and English :) and i learnt everything but Russian and Greek in school, i taught myself them x

  • OK thanks for sharing :-)

I always think that people who knows many languages are intersting people :-)

    I also speak 5-6 langauges :-)

  • yeah spanish is easy to forget, but not hard to remember, latin is harder, but german is hard, especially for a native french speaking person (like me :P )

  • Haha of course the only languages people talk to god in are Spanish and Latin.

    Silly people.

  • hey im come from german and i love this band. they sing the best german songs..ist better at toko hotel and alsome..

    lg at buxtehude (:

  • Very good English! xD What is your mark in English ?

    Joke ^^

I have to agree, they are a very good band and they are much better than Tokio Hotel, but i prefer Rammstein ^^

  • hahaha very good joke xD

my mark in english is 4. with a big + :D

  • I think spanish is easier, because if you can remember the 'endings' to verbs, and how to conjugate them to people, like, HE walked, They Walk, You Walked.

It's really easy and just takes memory.

  • he didnt say german easy easist just that its easier if you know english

  • spanish is not easy, actually is one of the most difficult lenguages in the world because of the gramatic

  • I hope you are kidding.

  • no i'm not kidding its the true

i learn that in the school

  • spanish is considered the easiest to forget. maybe thats just for native english speakers though. i dont know.

  • spanish is easy.... get over it..

  • i don't think the spanish is very easy. Its my firsy languaje and is not very easy the grammar and all that things

  • Lol wow, i cant believe you tards are rambling on about the origin of a language? totally random... GERMAN IS EASIER TO LEARN IF YOU SPEAK ENGLISH BECAUSE ITS SIMILAR is a lot better than the paragraphs of crap you all wrote...even though this paragraph explaining it is just as counterproductive...wait...shit!

lol but back on track, good song, Das Latzte Streichholtz is the best ever though!

  • manada dee gringos hijueputas

  • Enjoy the music!! All this chit chat about language is a riot to say the least. If americans are so sharp on language, why is it, that when the US president speaks "in English" to the nation on TV, someone has to appear after the fact and explain "also in English" what he just said "in English" lol, just enjoy the music LMAO

  • Because our presidents are retarded.

  • Ich bin ein Berliner LOL

Also, this is an excellent song

  • @electrolove, you fuckin noob, german and english are germanic languages, also swedish. it´s stupid to think that english is the only important language on this planet

  • NO shit dickhead, like i dont already know that all im saying is that its the sister language of the english language which makes it so easy to learn.... Oh and at MADPUMPKINGAMES Duh! i already now that idoit, what you think i was born yesterday!

  • yes the english is not the most inportant lenguage in the world for example the german is the lenguage of war the spanish is the one to speak to god the french of the love and the english for bussines

  • spanish the one to speak to god?? XD ahahahah

i think the best languages to talk to god are latin and italian, aren't they?

  • NO it is not based off of English lol and Englisch was not based off of German.

English was based off of GERMANIC, Greek, and Latin.

  • I speak german,a bit of polish, some swedish ,russian to,and of corse english

  • "Träumst du" can be translated as:

    1) are you dreaming

    2) do you dream

or 3) "will you dream" as long as there is another time element

In this case the line "Träumst du mit mir heute Nacht?" is BEST translated as:

Will you dream with me tonight.

because of the fact that the phrase "heute Nacht", meaning tonight, is present.

  • sound like depeche mode ó_ó!!!

  • True, But the Two most dominant Languages are German, Latin, And Greek.(Their predominance is in order from most to least.)

  • Hah. How was it based off english..?

  • I love oomph...sounds badass. dont understand a freakin word their saying though..i wish i knew german. :\

  • It's pretty easy when you already know English. English was based off of German. Very easy to pick up.

  • English is a mix of pretty much every language actually.....

  • Actually your correct because german is the sister language of the english language!!

  • Comment removed

  • traumst du means: are you dreaming?

  • Actually it's "Do you dream?"

  • friggin awesome

  • Du weißt genau so gut wie ich

    Dass ich nicht schlafen kann

    Denn meine träume kreisen

Immer nur um dich .....ICH TRÄUME...:)))

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • ????

  • TRÄUMST DU???!!!

    JAAAAAAAAAJAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sondern Lebe deinen Traum.

  • Do you dream....

  • You know what fuck you! Not all Germans are Nazis and Hitler was Austrian not German. If you are gonna say shit like this why would u even look this up? (If your being sarcastic forgive me)

  • @Doominator70

Dude why the fuck does every single German music video have a fucking nazi argument in it? can people not just shut the fuck up, no?

  • @IamDaReAlSeaN Because that's how Trolls work lol

  • @Doominator70 Fuck yeah! Everyone know Germans are too busy eating sausages to do Nazi stuff now a days!

  • If we like german music its our opinion and German music owns!!!

  • If your kidding that's a bad joke or your extremely uneducated.

  • oh yeah...we`re german, so were nazis because hitler was. in that case, youre black when your american since obama is black =)

  • Obama is half black...so that makes me half as scared! :P

  • @EnTeRtHeCrOw187 Yeah, even though Hitler was Austrian. It's amazing how people will talk shit without knowing a thing...(Not you, whoever you were talking to)

I wish I could speak German

  • Träumst du mit mir heut nacht???

    es ist sooooo geil!!!!!!

    Ich LIEBE dieses Lied !!!

  • Do you dream this Night :)

  • Can someone tell me what Traumst du translates into?

  • your dream

  • Are you dreaming.

  • Do you dream?

  • Könnt ihr euch aml entscheiden? : D

I guess its: are you dreaming?

  • On my opinion it's- Do you dream? :P

  • I agree... Do you dream (with me tonight)

  • im learning german in school, i loved the language before i knew of rammstein nd oomph cuz i am half german but they make me love it even more :D

  • einfach nur geile musik

  • I love German! The most beautiful language! And I hail from Germany. That's mainly why I'm trying to learn German...but I would like to understand these lyrics as well! OOMPH! AND RAMMSTEIN!!!!

anyways, i mean: is it better to listen to music that you can't understand? that's silly to repeat words like a parrot.

  • wow o.0

so many people trying to learn german just to understand the music?

tolles lied, oomph: sowieso gut :D

  • I'm trying to learn German on my own too because of Rammstein, Oomph!, and Megahertz. Out of all the languages I've ever heart, besides Russian, German has got to be the most beautiful.

  • i was forced to learn german at school nd hated it then i discovered these guys and rammstein and german is awesome now that im not forced to learn it

  • German is of course an awesome language ^^

    Ich bin deutscher xD

Ich kann verstehen was ihr schreibt, ihr könnt dass was ich schreibe aber nicht verstehen :'D

  • Oh please, beaner-spikk is way more fun to say :P

  • why isn't hre real mv allowed in the US? that's messed up!!!

  • Dont know the official reason, but I would guess it has to do with the implied sexual content.

It features a student who gets off by getting spankings from a hot teacher. The teacher is being spied on by the school janitor who wanks it to her video...

And oh ya, oomph (who appear to be ghosts revisiting their childhood school) wind up dragging off the janitor at the end of the video (its implied they kill him)...

  • Racist fucking prick.

  • what does Demut mean? kuz i have the origional vid,and Dero writes it on a chalkboard in the vid.anyone know?

  • Demut means "humility", I looked it up on BabelFish Translation.

  • german is an awesome language for rock and metal

  • german is an awesome language in general

  • I totally agree! I'm starting to learn it just for fun!! (And so I can undertand Oomph!'s interviews and "Making Of's" lol)

  • i actually first learned it because i loved rammstein. lol, but it really is such a fluid and powerful language

  • thats so odd, im also trying to teach myself german because of rammstein
