I also fold my towels lengthwise twice, then widthwise three times, as was done here,because it looks better on the shelf. But the main reason to fold towels this way is because they just don't seem to build deep closets anymore, and they fit better. Also, my Grandmother would say if you didn't fold your towels like this, you did it wrong:)

Thank you. Despite some of the comedy stating that this was obvious, you have just changed my linen closet. I always folded my towels like you folded your washcloths. In half then across again. Seriously, guys, if you fold everything neatly and the same way, it takes no more effort and everything stacks up so nicely. However, my mom taught me to fold towels in thirds from top to bottom and then fold that in thirds. That way it stacks neatly on the shelf and is ready to put on the towel bar so that no edges are exposed. So perfect. I remember seeing a re-run of the Donna Reed Show (the absolute perfect TV mom) and she folded her towels that way.

I prefer to roll the facecloths and towels like a joint, as folding only allows you to stack to a certain height before they tip over.

And I feel the rolled pyramid (from stacking layers of rolled towels/facecloths), gives them a little something extra! And all the female visitors comment on how nice the linen closet looks, after their post coitus shower.

If you spend decent money on towels, you might as well make them look good! Am I right?

The towel fold is also known as the E-fold. When you look at it from the end it looks like an "E". This is basic instruction at the USAF Academy.
