5 and tactics can go anywhere in there. Never played 13, heard great things. 2 and 3 never got standalone console releases in North America, and I have never played them through. I played first 4 hours of II in origins, it was meh. Really bold, but exploitable character stat system.

XII very disapointing. MASSIVE! but BOOOOOOORING

I have fond memories of X, but probably VII or IX is truly the best, X just rings nostalgia the most for me.

VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X are a gold mine; but I believe IX has the best overall in character designs, theme, art, and story. The opening music and intro video drew me in right away. I also loved how if you wait at the menu too long, it plays a video or two showing a picture of each character, and a word/phrase associated with him/her. I thought that was pretty neat. Vivi is one of the best characters, it it feels like a true fantasy rpg.

Er, in my opinion, FFXII didn't have as much emotional impact as the other Final Fantasies. To me, it didn't feel like an FF game at all; it felt like your generic cyber-fantasy game in a generic setting, with a generic plot and weak characters.

But then again, my personal favorite, FFIX, had a generic setting too, but they executed it brilliantly, so I'm guessing that the creators just didn't give XII enough "heart" like the other installments.

The best final fantasy games are 7,8,9 & 10

FF7 has a lego-like characters but the story was amazing( no one could ever think of a story line like ff7)

FF8 has the draw system which many of you didn't like but the whole game touches our emotions and memories

FF9 has only 2 playable human characters but their world makes us think what a fantasy world really looks like

FF10 has good graphics and storyline which gives our childhood good memories and emotions

They are all what we call perfect

Final Fantasy II gets no love eh? I liked it a lot better than Final Fantasy III. I tried to play through Final Fantasy III (or VI) 3 times since it first came out, couldn't do it, got bored with it's theatrics every time. Final Fantasy II on the other hand I've played start to finish several times. VII and IX were both excellent too.

Finally a list i agree with! Personally i like 6 more than 7, however ive flopped those at least 5 times, seems to be whichever of the two im playing is my favorite. Although im starting to think that 7 just isn't aging that well, and 6 consistently impresses me with the capabilities they pulled out of the super nintendo.
