Ron Howard is not very good at comedy. Frost/Nixon, Beautiful Mind, Ransom, Apollo 13 - all decent-to-great movies. The Dilemma, Gung Ho, EdTV - not so good. Parenthood was okay, but it kind of straddled the line of comedy and drama

I agree with New Years Eve; but at a cinema I work at we managed to pack in audiences (98%+ women, only men were dragged against their will or were too old to care anymore) and still sell robustly. Hangover 2 making money....the fact New Years Eve has made any money is a crime.

According to BoxOfficeMojo it's made $115million worldwide; mercifully less than the $216million of Valentine's Day. The only 'Day' film they could make a movie is St. Patrick's Day; but I feel they'd screw that up.

I agree Sucker Punch made absolutely no sense at all, something about a mental prison for girls where they try to escape through burlesque dancing which somehow turns into daydreams about fighting fictional wars in castles with machine guns and stuff? Pretty ridiculous right? BUT remember that its the same director who did 300, so what do you expect? I bought the dvd for a laugh and some over the top stylised fight scenes (as if 300 didnt have enough) and that's what I got. To each his own :D

'Sucker Punch' was a complete success in every way BUT being a good movie Lol. It managed to grab naive teenagers attention and their parents money and i think that's all the producers wanted to achieve. I can't even remember what the actual story was, obviously wasn't that interesting.

Good recap on all the crap i should've avoided, I would add 'I Am Number Four', 'Cowboys and Aliens' and 'Abduction'

There's nothing wrong with Hangover 2. The movie promised and delivered. The editing was fine, the plot made sense, the sets and dialogue were good. On what critical basis did he not like the film? Let's break it down. "It was more of the same." Can't wait for next year's list featuing "The Avengers, just like the Xmen. Who wants to see another superhero movie?" I mean, really, this guy didn't list Rubber?

If the makers of this film wanted you to enjoy yourself, they wouldn't made the film, they'd of handed out the budget of the film to strangers and told them to go out and have a few drinks on them, rather than sit in a dark cinema watching a film. This film was made for one, express purpose, to cash in on the success of the first film.
